Waiting for the review from here, and also hardwarecanucks. I am buying one when it comes out, but you know.... benchies and everything get me all worked up.

Considering this seems to be the biggest card available on the market, i wonder if any of the reviews will have a list of cases it WONT fit it?

I don't think the stream processors are right for those two cards, also, they should be able to support a higher resolution, especially from AMD's tech demos. And is phyX enabled on the NV cards for vantage?
Does anyone else think the cooling shroud looks really good on the 5870?

Holy freakin' hell. I've been an Atech reader since '98 and a forum lurker for almost a decade. I can't believe I never noticed you're the same person as at Ars =o

*raises beer* Cheers!

The 5870 can support ultra high resolutions through the use of multiple monitors. Can it support that extreme resolution(7680x4800 for example) on a single monitor if such a monitor were to come out in the future?

Resolution support depends on what the output connector can handle.
e.g. DVI can only do 1920x1200 or so, dual link DVI can do things like 2560x1600, HDMI 1.0 can only do 1920x1200 or so, while 1.3 or 1.4 is required for 2560x1600.

The card can output whatever the connector can scale up to for a single panel.
Displayport can manage 2560x1600 @ 60Hz, but nothing higher, since it runs out of bandwidth.
HDMI 1.4 can do 4096x2160 maximum but I don't think that's 60Hz.
Dual link DVI can do 3840×2400 @ 33Hz

Nothing is going to be able to do 7680x4800 to a single display from a single output without a new connector type being developed.
Unless the monitor can take multiple inputs and use them to display on one screen with a high res, it's the connector that's going to be the limiting factor.

6:01 AM tomorrow so there was really no point in starting this thread today at all. lol

also it says 6:01 CEST not CST. what the heck is CEST??

EDIT: CEST means "Central European Summer Time" http://www.timeanddate.com/lib...timezones/eu/cest.html

Correct, my bad. So that is 6 hours ahead of us here on EST, so that should be midnight tonight on Eastern time.

Yes; my only concern is that the reduced vent size at the back will stifle the eviction of hot air. Hopefully this won?t be a big issue in practice.

I wanted to make sure I wasn?t beaten to the punch this time.

That and I?m sure some Chinese website will break the NDA, so I expect all of you to start scavenging right now to give me some good links for the OP. Fly my pretties, fly!

considering nothing people actually play with regularity (i.e. excluding Crysis which is purely used for benchmarking by 99% of the people who own it), there's really no need to be killed by the suspense. It's going to be a great series of cards but there's no need to rush out and get one for MSRP.
