ATI 5870 tomorrow right?

The ATI 5870 gets released to stores tomorrow sept 22 right? I've seen some places say the 23rd but I thought it was the 22nd...


I'm locking this as it's no longer required, and we have a review thread sticky anyway.

I think the word is 22nd in the States and 23rd elsewhere. Who knows if that's true, though.

CF 5870s or CF 5850s? Sounds like you're going to be running right through every game there is even with 8xAA on that 24".

I believe $299 for the 5850, and $399 for the 5870.

I think it would be great to have one, but I need to wait for some rebates/discounts first. I usually try to spend about $50 once or twice a year on a vid card upgrade after selling the old card, so I'll need 5850 to slip well under $200 if I'm to keep on this pace.

Very tempting indeed. Still surprised we have nothing from NVidia yet, I'm holding my money till I see what they offer. I really want/need a 2gb video card for Half Life 2 Cinematic mod.

5850 is faster than a GTX285 from what I've read.

My local store has some in stock but can't sell them yet... (I told them the first two XFX 5870s with 2GB of vram they get goes to me)

Not bad, at least it's semi-confirmation that the Radeon 5xx0 series are at least shipping. Even if they're not officially on sale. Now ATI just needs to keep these in stock and with decent availability. That probably is the biggest question at this point. Can TSMC provide enough GPU's for both ATI and nVidia? Hopefully yes because if either becomes scarce, the price for all video cards will go up as availability decreases.

If you don't keep your cards very long Gigabyte is alright too. My motherboard RMA went very smoothly with them. However, XFX will have a higher resale value of course because of the double lifetime warranty.

I can't buy Motherboard because GPU, have all parts bought but without GPU is no reason to buy a MOB, so let see...
I hope in a month there will be some of the new cards with rebates from XFX of cource...
