As much as I'd like to get an HD58x0, $300 is a bit too much. However, I'm hoping prices on the HD48x0s fall a bit more.

The good thing is that most people here and elsewhere will be too scared to shill out the $399 launch-price, saying "I'll get it when it drops $50". It won't drop $50 for a very long time when it's far more well worth your while to just be one of the first people to have one.
I think most people who don't wait to order one, once they're in stock, will get one. I plan on picking one up as soon as it shows up instock for the full 399. Those who hesitate for a few hours will lose out for sure.
Judging from the past, once the 2nd round of supply comes in the price might actually raise to 450 for a while. It wouldn't be shocking.

I believe $299 for the 5850, and $399 for the 5870.

Fixed. Internal slides to back this up as well.
