ATI 7500 drivess not able to install? GUYS I NEED YOR HELP ON THIS ASAP. PRETTY PLEASE

$%^%HIT Ok hers the low down. windows XP I downloaded the latest drivers off ATI's site. When i goto install them I get the error. " This driver is not compadable with the display Adapter(s) installed on/in you system" now WTF does that mean.

Maybe you got a 98 driver? If thats not it Ati leaves a driver on ur C: drive by default. Just installed it manually.

arg.. i tryed everything. I get such jerky game performance. Im gonna try to edit the redistry and look for my nivida strings.

I just bought one and had the same error and had to spend 30 min on hold with ATI (long distance! no 800#!!) to get this question answered. The problem is that the drivers are not configured to properly recognize the video bios. Stupid software error by ATI. You can still install the drivers however and they work fine, just you can't do the autoinstall.

My OS is win98se, so this my differ slightly.

Manually install the drivers by going to the display adapter in the system menu in the control panel. Click on you video card (mine still read PCI adapter (vga) at this point) and click on "update drivers" Then you will have to manually select the video drivers you wish to install. I unpacked the drivers I downloaded onto my hdd, and the file for my OS read something like "atii98x***.inf" Begin to install this file and the rest of the files will auto install.

Make sure you uninstall any old video drivers and you have booted with the general pci vga adapter (and you comp will start with 640x480x16) and have installed directX 8.x before you start. Also make sure it overwrites any driver files still found (ie it will sometimes ak if you want to keep a newer file and just say no.)

Good luck, and hopefully in a few mins you will have a working 7500.


PS. the tech guy said this is a common prob. ATI is dumb for letting it happen in the first place, but dumber for not putting this on thier website. Oh well, it kicks ass once it works.

Check the box that your board came with to see if your card is 'Built by ATI" or 'Powered by ATI".

If it is "Powered by ATI" then ati's drivers won't work with it, you have to get the reference drivers from ATI's website or even better, get the drivers from the website of the maker of the board.

If it is 'Built by ATI" then ignore what I said.

you guys rock!!!! thanks alot. I reformated again. (its been 3 months since the last) I installed the old/forced way. It worked good. My game performance is pretty good now. I dont see a improvement over my older Gforce 256 ddr though



a special thanks to Hafen for that leingthy post. Im gonna run a 3d mark 2001 for the hell of it and see what my score is. My old score was 3366. that sucks for a 1.4ghz machine with a radeon 7500

No, probably not, all cards look the same and most of them have the same features. So if the ati drivers work don't worry about it.

After trying to install the new drivers for Win ME I had the same problems too, but I couldn't install it manually. I tried but it didn't work.
I think ATI has a lot of issues with their drivers, that is unacceptable for a well reputated company as ati.
