Speedtester, I do feel like it was false advertising. I gave my cc # and placed the order in good faith and at the time I did not believe it was a typo as I was not familiar with the Powercolor version of the card and the price was not so very low that it was obviously a mistake (ie $20 or something like that). There's no way in hell B&M stores could get away with something like this if they had a misprint in an ad. Believe me, I've worked in retail before and seen it happen. If a B&M store said 'Sorry, typo.' all hell would break loose! They'd at very least have to make some other form of compensation or substition. So should internet stores be any different because they don't have to deal with people in their face and email is much easier to ignore?

As for whether or not I should file a BBB complaint, well lets let the BBB decide what they think is valid and what is not ok?

I checked their site again out of curiosity. The card in not just "no longer in stock", it's not even listed anymore.

I think maybe they "had it up to here" with the complaints and just pulled the product entirely. I wonder if they did that so customers wouldn't be able to demand the card at the original price it was offered.

How are people going to ask that they honor the card at the $129 price if the product is not even carried anymore?

Anyways, I agree that the public should complain to the company when they're unhappy.( although, not sure I'd go all the way to the BBB for a "pricing mistake"..................some guys must be pretty ticked off around here to go that far

I've asked stores before to honor their "pricing" mistakes before......its happened a few times, actually. Sometimes they give me the price...other times they just basically say "tough tushies".

I have a feeling PCDynamic falls into the latter category. And seeing how they even took the product off the website, I'd say you guys are probably not going to get diddly.

I'd be pretty PO'd too if it was me . I would have bought the card too if I hadn't seen the other deal for $149 and ordered that already.

So.........I feel your pain.

Just keep looking for more deals.....if I see any , I'll post them too.

##### Just received another Email from PCDYNAMIC ####

They are trying to respond to everyone and so if you emailed them you will be getting the same email.

I will be the first to say that they are doing everything within reason to do their very best.

This is the email repsonse I got from them:

Let us explain the ¡§typo¡¨.

We got the information from our agent in Taiwan who informed us there was a
good deal of Power Color ATI 8500 Chipset 64MB DVI as we stated in our web.
We placed the ordered from them before Christmas and the shipment would be
in after holiday.

During the holiday, our agent found that the price they quoted to us was
totally wrong. It should be the price of Power Color ATI 7500 Chipset 64MB
DVI. They tried to contact us to correct the information, but our company
was closed for Christmas holiday from 12/22/01 to 12/25/01.

They couldn¡¦t contact our purchasing manager until 12/25/01. It was a shock
after he knew it was a big mistake. He adjusted and removed the item
immediately to stop the order keep going in.

Because the news came so sudden and we wanted to notify the customers who
already placed the orders of this item to us as fast as we could. That¡¦s
why we simply explained it was typo in the email we sent to you at
Christmas night.

Please accept our apology to this mistake. Our company actually was screwed
up by our agent and we didn¡¦t have any intention to give the customers
wrong information in our web site.

As you know, we have a good rate in resellerratings.com. It isn¡¦t wise for
us to this dishonest action to ruin our rating. We hope you can understand
our situation.

Anyway, please let us make up for this mistake. You will get a $20.00
discount if you place an order to our company with indicating your order
number.

We look forward to serving you.

Best Regards.

Pcdynamic

I'm glad they replied and explained, they didn't have to but they did and I think it makes things a whole lot better. I can also see now how the holidays slowed down their repsonse to this situation. Oh and for the record, I haven't filed any complaints with BBB or left any negative reseller ratings as I wanted to give them sufficient time to reply before I did so and now of course I won't be. Honestly, I would have liked the item at that price of course, who wouldn't? But a longer explanation such as this and a gesture such as the discount really goes a long way. They didn't have to do it, but they did. So guys please don't crap up their reseller ratings anymore.

If they didn't have the item in the first place and it wasn't even due to arrive until after the holidays, WTH did they put it on the page and say that it was in stock? That's just stupid and asking for trouble. Giving the people that ordered discounts is a good first step. I still wanted a card though. I still want to know whether or not they are getting in the retail 8500 or is it the 7500? I think now would be a good time to buy, they would have to be the stupidest people ever to screw up orders now. They would be reviled around here like I don't know what.

I agree with cbone!!! Do not advertise items that you do not have in inventory. If this were an auction site there would be penalties!! We should find a way to force them to honor the deal so they will learn lesson.

On another note, if the orders had gone through, they were misleading us by telling us they were "in stock". Just exactly how long would we have to wait for these too come in from Taiwan, then be shipped to us? Sounds like a lengthy process. Should have been advertised as "special order" if they did not have them. Still seems shady!!!

People like you guys are why it is just not worth it to go into business anymore. Eventually your going to make one tiny mistake and your going to get sued or drug through the mud by the "you owe us something crowd". YOU ALL KNEW it was too good to be true when you ordered it. The mentality here is sad. I know many of you will throw a tantrum and disagree with this post, but I truely believe you guys are mishandling this all the way. When you see a too good to be true price like this if you decide to order you hope you get it, but if you don't you MOVE ON. Again people here have their priorities screwed up. Your in an uproar because you don't get a mispriced video card. A damn video card! There's many more serious problems out there you should be directing your energy towards. GROW UP. :disgust:

This is not an intentional misprice and all the whiners here know it. I was hoping to get one and I didn't. SO WHAT? On to the next deal..

I'm sorry, instead of posting about bonehead small business owners who are incapable of running a successful business, I will go out and end world hunger. Pfffffffffft!!!

Same here.

FYI, I got the reply too but I've decided to spend the money on a new paintball gun instead.

Was Motoki the only one to get an email like that? or did other people get one too with a $20 coupon?

I got the same email too, I am glad they finally give us reply like that. The $20 discount is wise as well, everybody make mistakes, and I guess i'll see how I use that $20 and make an order on them again (that's why I said they made a wise decision)

chrisjor I'm glad you've never made a mistake. Calling a someone incapable of running a small business because of a pricing error due to faulty information from a distributor is a bit of stretch. Looks like these guys are trying to make good... I'm happy.

Cbone, I disagree. A lot of retailers use "just in time" inventory to keep from having a lot of computer stock. They rely on their distributor to give them good information and sell based on their stock. However, if they are not using live updates.....apparantly this company isn't.....you can have problems.

geekender,

I get the just in time thing, but over the holidays? That may fly in the middle of summer, but around Christmas? And then not have anyone available? That was a bonehead move.

Valvoline6,

If the deal was for 15 dollars THAT would be too good to be true. $129 was still in the realm of possibility, IMO. I thought that it was just a damn good deal. There are some cheap, cynical, hot-headed people around here. I don't know the truth and neither does anyone else. Why couldn't the misprice have been intentional? Makes just as much sense as their story. Yes, they seem to be trying to fix things (I still haven't gotten my 20 e-mail, though), but it may be too late.

Too many stores seem to think that if they screw up, you should just grin and bear it. Blockbuster tried to charge 3 bucks on my credit card and I hadn't been there in months. I called and I ask the manager to tell me the movie that I got charged for or when I rented it. He can't do it, so I ask him to remove the charge. He says, "(sigh) It's only 3 dollars. (sigh)" Not the same thing, I know, but the attitude is getting popular.

I think you have to reply to the: "There¡¦s a typo error on the ATI 8500 VGA card, and we can¡¦t process your order" email. You know the whole "squeaky wheel" theory. I didn't reply, so I guess I won't get one. Just wanted the card at a $37 savings. Newegg still has the best deal on the 8500LE; $179 shipped.

I guess when we see something for around $130 at a $40 savings, or after a $40 rebate, we should just forget it, it's to good to be true, huh? I guess we should just stop coming to the hot deals forum all together, because most of the things posted here are right around that. Thanks for straightening us out Valvoline 6.:disgust:

You guys only see what you want to see. Right off the bat there was doubt about this price. People warned those who were going to order anyway. You did order anyway. IT WAS A MISTAKE. We didn't get the card now lets move on. Had anyone got the card, or a couple slipped through, it would have been a hot deal. Alas it was not. IT WAS A MISTAKE, which everyone of us knew it probably was. GO READ THE FIRST PAGE OF POSTS. It's over move on.

This is different than being overcharged at Blockbuster. No doubt that should be refunded. You were not charged for this, you were not sent a substitute product. You lost nothing. Move on.

I emailed them a quick little note of dissapointment, got the $20 email within an hour. I am still unimpressed, it looks as if it was auto reply of some kind. $20 offer has no limits on it. I will try to order something that costs $21.00 and see what happens. I bet they will pull some scam with excessive shipping to recoup!!! Smartmedia card here I come.

Their shipping is ridiculous, the cheapest ups ground for a case to NY cost 25 bucks , 11 bucks for a freakin artic silver thermal paste, everytime you add an item the shipping will increase no matter what even for just the thermal paste. And their page will only let you update the quantity if its more, can't update when u want to delete them. This is starting to piss me of..... I can't seems to find a deal which is reasonable even having the $20 coupon, so if you want to make an order be sure to know the $20 bucks can pay you shipping cost only or you can go ahead and buy the thermal paste for around 20 bucks including shipping.
