Now that the Asus board is shipping, where are the reviews of this chipset? I am intrigued by this and the new Via chipset for P4. If pricing comes in low enough, it may make for some nice boards at good pricing.

I've wondered the same thing. Seems like a really good deal when you consider that the onboard graphics alone are on par with a $50 add-in card. I was considering one, instead of a new graphics card, but I'd like to keep using my LCD's DVI connection, and I bet most of the motherboards only have VGA connectors.

juust a heads up. the 9100 IGP is not based on the ATI 9100 chipset. its based off the 9200, which if you know is just a 9000 with agp 8x support. think of it like a castrated version of the 8500/9100.

From what I have read, adding a Radeon 9800 - or any dual head card - with RS300 boards will give you 3 headed gaming, like the Parhelia.

Not quite. According to this:

And even if 3D performance isn't the RADEON 9100 IGP's most defining attribute, support for a third display will surely turn heads (remember Matrox?). Briefly, you can plug a discrete card into the platform's AGP 8x slot, enabling the first two outputs. A third display can then be attached to the 9100 IGP's integrated VGA connector for Parhelia-like operation in 2D and 3D modes.

Emphasis mine. This means that you can plug a special discrete card (certainly not a 9800) into the AGP slot and then another into the integrated VGA connector and have triple-head gaming. Parhelia-like, indeed, along with Parhelia-like (if that) performance from the integrated graphics.

Which would give you better performance. The video in nforce2's IGP or this?

btw mwave now has the ASUS P4R800-VM for $80.

ati 9000(9100IGP) vs gf4mx 440(NF2). i'd say very very slight favorite to ati9000.

"Discrete" is just the opposite of "integrated", if you ask a tech. So yes, in theory the IGP9100 can coexist with an AGP card ... in practice, this doesn't seem to be working just yet.

I don't have any experience with these quite yet, but they look to be a good mainstream/light gaming/better graphics business solution for folks who want intel processors. Otherwise, the NF2 boards and Athlon XP's are an all-around better deal...

Matrox pretty much has a lock on the specialized high end business users who want multi-display capabilities- they trust Matrox, and won't even blink at the pricetag...
