looks like ati took it one step farther and decided to not render things to their full quality in an attempt to gain performance rather than just not rendering stuff you don't see

Interesting how in the span of a month, the tables have turned radically and suddenly ATI has to shake the label of "cheater" as the 52.16s seem to have done what the Fanchimps promised they WOULDN'T do - run faster with good quality and no cheats.

Interesting times we live in.

And it's still not fast enough to catch up to ATI, and please go read up on the new filtering method in the 50 series, they do exibit lower quality

In a month span, a lot was found out. I had no idea that ATI was cheating by lowering image resolution, and others. I have also understood Nvidia's case better. ATI is cheating the same way Nvidia was cheating, only that Nvidia is not as skilled as ATI is in fooling ones eye. I think that it is stupid that people are not now commenting on this as they were with Nvidia. It is cheating because they are lowering quality and not drawing the picture as its supposed to be, exactly what Nvidia did, only ATI was a little sneakier about it. I don't know if that is the cause for its such high performance, but I do know that it is still cheating, and if anything ATI is more to blame than Nvidia.

Well, considering that ATI is CHEATING to gain speed, I guess nVidia's at a disadvantage and what's wrong with the filtering - all I've seen is praise.

Fanchimps take reality poorly.

I would love to see how you think ATI is cheating to gain speed as the speed and quality is still above Nvidias. And all of the "praise" you see for Nvidias filtering has went down the drain with the detonator 50 drivers

the hand wasn't quite seen in the cookie jar as far as ATI is concerned. one thing is for sure though. they ALL cheat. no doubt about it, whether all of them will be caught or not remains to be seen. i think gorillaman's comments aren't that far from the truth.

"My ATI card, which I am married to, and have had little baby pipelines with, is my darling baby. Anyone so much as looks at my ATI card the wrong way will be killed a horrible and agonizing death. My 9700np is sitting on the shelf collecting dust. 5900 in box currently. I like it that way. I was keeping the 9700 around in case NV couldn't do something about the DX9 performance. It looks like they are on the right track so it looks like it will be staying on the shelf indefinately.

As far as image quality? I cant tell the difference at all. I guess maybe there could be a difference but I'm not one to disect every pixel on the image.

What was I talking about again? Oh yeah, dont be so bitter because there REALLY is no reason to be.
I hope for your sake you are not older than 20. Most people would be able to hear themselves and say, "My God, what am I doing? Do I really sound like that?" A small minority just cant be made to see themselves in the mirror.

This seems to be a common theme on these forums. The old I have a 5900ultra and a 9800pro, and the 5900 is in my main box. Like so what?
