I bought an ATI 7500 All in wonder retail card from Circut cty last month and finally got it installed
(in a friends computer)(it was a christmas gift from his wife, I'm just helping out here.) when trying to run a game (warcraft 3) it goes to a blue screen and is frozen till I unplug the computer and reboot.
I'll list the sysetm specs below
Warcraft III is the game that it goes blue with
Evo 4x4 wouldn't run either displays the illegal operation window invalid 4x4.exe
castle wolfenstien runs OK (was already installed on D drive)

I did a fdisk and format and installed Win98se , then the 4in1 drivers and all his card drivers , installed direct x 8.1 before the ATI drivers. seemed fine till he installed and tried running the games

the system:

Asus P3V 4X
PIII 750Mhz
256mg PC100
2.1gig with OS on it
60gig D drive run from ATA 100 controller card (used mostly for programs)
56K ISA modem
sound blaster 128PCI (removed card same problem)
250Watt PS + atx case
44xCD
acer CDRW
ATI AIW 7500 64meger

not the fastest ssystem , but an upgrade from a 450mhz with a DDR geforce 1 that at least ran games

as always thanks for any help, I've read some posts about the ATI 7500 and warcraft but didn't understand some terminolgy so thought I'd try posting before I return the card before the 30days and get him a geforce 3 or 4 instead

My guess is the POwer supply can't handle it...the radoen line of cards let alone the AIW series are serious power hogs....

If you have a good 300 watt around try it. It likely is when the vid card is taxed with something 3d intensive it draws so much it craps out. have you tried running loops of 3dmark2001??? If that fails too it could be a sign...

Proper install for AIW drivers:

1)OS---reboot
2)OS patches, etc---reboot
3)via 4 in 1s (hyperions??)---reboot
4)direct x 8.1---reboot

5)load capture drivers
6)load catalyst 2.5's----reboot

7)load control panel----reboot

what is catalyst 2.5 ??
I downloaded the ATI driver and it said catalyst 1.xxx and it then rebooted and the computer detected about 6-7 devices but couldn't find the drivers anymore. I will try installing a 350watt psu ssince I have one here but I'd be suprised if that was the problem with it.

What a pain updating the video drivers , I've never seen a video card with 7 devices on it and the updated drivers should contain either readme notes about the update knocking out all the cards drivers with how to not get 6-7 yellow exclamation marks, (& crap I've seen photos of the the ATI 9700, reminds me of the vodoo 5 with the power plug on it) I have the 7500 of course just whinin

just woke up to let in the near freezing cat (every 6am meeoows at the window), still planning on an attempted return with a torn up box and a UPC photo taped back on (lol) later today during my lunch hour

any direct links to the 2.5 catalyst appreciated (perhaps some of you techys can't sleep due to a dog or cat or just playing games all night) gonna search for it anyway myself hate letting this thing beat me...thanks

OK found the 3.0 catalyst suite, installing as instructed by ATI , maybe I downloaded the non built by ATI drivers last time , will post if this works in case someone else has problems with this card

at least now when I follow the 123 instructions I am able to load all the device drivers ,
but still blue screen when try to play warcraft 3 ,
will now try the 350watt psu before I admit defeat (stinkin case has a bracket blocking gotta remove all the cards , what a pain)
OK 350watts installed and new PIII 733 still blue screen "exception oe in the VXD blah blah balh", could be my motherboard or maybe the ATI 7500 is junk or defective (well 30 day return period is up today so back it goes and Nvidia wins again here)

didn't see any patches for the game or OS ???

I do remember reading some posts about warcraft links:

Maybe your system RAM is defective. www.memtest86.com

edit: Duh, are you running the PC100 RAM correctly at "CPU-33" speed, or are you running it at 133 MHz?

Ram is a good thought as it is more likely to bsod on you then freeze and power supply is likely to just freeze in the game period....

Also the 750 p3 is the 100fsb model so check to see if ram is cpu + pci clk.....I doubt it as a lot of the older pc100 could not come close to pc133....It was a big leap back then....

nope , memory is on auto anyway + I switch it out to make sure it wasn't defective.
I returned the card today and just tried installing a geforce DDR and running warcraft same blue screen.
I think its the motherboard, it was pulled from a disassembled pawn shop system. guess I'll try another motherboard and gonna buy a geforce 4 ti4200 for this one . I hate being beat but the 30day return time was up today.thanks for all the help!
I'll post what was wrong if it works with another motherboard

Bought two Ti4200s , came out to $120 each after price adjustment & PNY gives a lifetime warranty.
one of these is to replace the ATI 7500 and the other for my new nforce2 1080amg system.
with all the gaming issues we've had these past few months I hope these cards hold us for awhile.

issues : mine need for speed HP2 & UT 2003 running slow

the Ex ATI 7500 system blue screen of death & before that slow even running castle wolfenstien, ran some games not all , all the time..(with a Geforce DDR & a 450mhz )

anyway thanks for the posts and help !!

Just posting what was wrong, after replacing the power supply, case, motherboard, memory, CPU , video card , all that was left was the hard drive and that was it. Stupid crappy hard drive would let me install everything and blue screen me when trying to play a game.. maybe it had/has a virus (older 6gig HD) going in the junk parts pile!!
I tried format C:/U and now it won't let me install windows again , guess its really had it now!!!

glad I was able to return the ATI 7500 AIW and get the Ti4200 ,I'm sure it will run games better than the ATI anyway.,..

thanks to all who give advice here!!
