ATI card and ED3D Glasses with LCD monitor

I ordered a ED 3D glass for playing game in 3D. but one of my friend says it will not work with ATI card. is the true ?? will it not work ??

i hope i am not wasting 110$ and my monitor is a samsung 22 and the max i can force is 75hz at 1680x1050 through my SKD driver and tool.

hmmm any idea about the hz ?? is 75hz ok ?? the site says 60hz minimum.


And i don't believe guruBD. they will say Sh**t is tasty if the company pay money.. lol D:

You might notice some flickering, but it will probably work.
Ideally you'd have a 120hz set or a CRT.

There is no technical reason you would require 120Hz... One could devise shutter glasses to work at any frequency, you would just feel like you were observing half of it. It is just going to look strange... no reason a company could not support it if they want, though I don't know if that particular company does or not I'd imagine they do with the statement Magnus posted.

Well, actually there is a technical reason. Because you're using shutter glasses, the display had to show one image for one eye and then adjust the image slightly and display it for the other eye. This means that you are now showing two frames in 3D for every one frame at regular 2D. If you attempt to display 3D on a regular 60 Hz display, you will only get 30 Hz per eye and you would see horrible flickering. You need a minimum of 60 Hz per eye to see a smoothly flowing image. This means that you need at least a 120 Hz display in order to provide 60 Hz per eye in 3D mode.

I didn't say it wouldn't look strange.. just that it will work. 30Hz is not all that bad either, certainly won't look great but it will be plenty to see the 3D.

You in no way need a minimum of 60hz to see a smooth image, there is no cutoff for the eye like that, after 24 most won't be able to notice the flickering, just the blurring and irregularity.

One might 'want' at least 60hz per eye, but there is no reason 3d 'requires' 60hz per eye. There is no technical requirement for 120hz, higher frequency just improves the effect.

One could make a 2Hz display work with shutter glasses and still get a 3d effect working... It would be entirely pointless and look terrible but there is no reason it wouldn't work.

2Hz? Probably not. You can simulate your own shutter glasses just by blinking at 2Hz.
