Latest Catalyst 1-in-4's fixed my CP. No other instability issues of note, although FSB speeds > 200MHz crash/lock faster than before. Gonna need official 200MHz FSB from nVidia in the form of a BIOS update or a new video card (assuming the 9700pro can't handle 200MHz FSB).

Our close buddy Terry Makedon, or better known amongst our forums as "Catalyst Maker", has shed some light on what to expect with the soon to be released driver set, Catalyst 3.2!
Here's a small breakdown of what's going on.
1) People are very anxious for the 7.84 set which is known as CATALYST 3.2 and want to know when it will be posted.
2) People want to know what to expect in this driver set.
3) People are wondering about RADEON9800 performance paths and when the RADEON9700 users will get them.
I have decided to address these for the inquiring minds.
1) Shortly
2) Stuttering observed in the 9700 series is all I want to mention right now. Stay tuned for more!
3) Seems like lately on the forums a developer has spoiled my upcoming surprise about the CATALYST drivers for RADEON. We found some pretty decent performance boosts while we were developing the 9800 drivers. They were scheduled for release with the first set of 9800 drivers (CATALYST 3.2) and we were planning on letting them out for the 9700 cards once we'd tested them thoroughly. Which in this case is CATALYST 3.3
When we launched CATALYST we committed that we would keep adding new features, bug fixes and performance boosts across the range, but we're dead serious about our stability and quality testing and won't compromise that for anything. The CATALYST drivers are the most stable on the market, and that will not change. So for now CATALYST 3.2 will have not have the amazing performance boosts for the 9700, CATALYST 3.3 will! Furthermore since I like you guys so much I will plan on bringing in the CATALYST 3.3 posting day from our typical release cycle, and have it posted as soon possible
However, since the CAT(!) is out of the bag - you now know that 9700 owners will have a great performance boost with the CATALYST 3.3 posting. We're not just number one - we'll now be #1 (RADEON 9800 PRO), #2 (9800) and #3 (9700 PRO).
2003 the year of CATALYST!
Just from this alone, you can't help saying to yourself... "Hurry up with teh 3.3's!!" But for the time being, the 3.2's will suffice handsomely. Stay tuned for more details!

Has anyone notice any IQ increasements with this driver set? I notice quake3 looks alot better on my Radeon than on my former Geforce4 Ti card. GF4 IQ=vomit.

I sometimes get a little choppyness when I open the "purchase menus". Is this the problem you're referring to?
Other than that, Freelancer runs like a champ on my 9500 Pro with 2x, 8AF and looks great.
sure sounds harder than with my old matrox, just run the new driver install and reboot and you were doneOriginally posted by: Chad
It's not too bad, here's a quick and easy way to get a perfect install...
Uninstall current ATI drivers (don't reboot yet) and then uninstall the ATI Control Panel...
Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 during boot sequence)...
Download and then run this program (important: check out the readme file)...
Install the new ATI 3.2 drivers (don't rebooot yet) and then the ATI Control Panel...
Reboot...
All done.
It sounds harder than it is (it's easy and pretty fast and you can be sure this way it's an absolute clean install)
You guys are taking ATI driver instal way too seriously.Originally posted by: Chad
