New Features

This release of Catalyst® introduces the following new features:

* Video Quality Improvements

Video Quality Improvements

Improvements have been made to the Avivo video processing engine during standard definition (SD) video playback. This utility allows users to convert video content that is recorded by MCE, or video content that is available to MCE, to variety of different formats. The video content can be converted to MPEG-2, MPEG-4 SP, MPEG-4 AVC and Windows Media. Ipod Video and PSP video are listed as separate formats for easy recognition.

Nice! Looks like they fixed the Oblivion X-fire issue, but I dont see any mention of the HDR+AA function being added to the official drivers.

Wonder if they "Stealthed" it in there, or if the "Chuck" patch is still needed.

So let me ask this. If one were to upgrade to 6.4, then apply the chuck patch would they be overwriting the new 6.4 drivers?

I guess I am still unclear if "chuck" is a patch or an actual driver release.

Renaming it will not enable HDR+AA, that's for AFR with the 6.3 drivers.

So right. My bad.

its for Oblivion. so you can play with HDR + AA at the same time. If you don't do this then go ahead and upgrade to these drivers.

I have the ati hdtv wonder. The dtv tuner control and analog tv control were seperate. Then the last release ati combined tv analog and dtv into one. Nothing but problems since. Stutter video and unable to even use. Luckily I had the older version and went back to that. I dont know about ati? Dont fix it unless you fix it.

Get Driver Cleaner Pro 1.5, go in Safe Mode, clean "ATI" in the drop down box. Reboot in Normal Mode, install Catalyst 6.4, reboot again, and voila.

I just did that from 6.3, and my BF 2 starts, and plays perfectly well.

Thanks. I actually did that but I got a stripped screen then my system would reboot. But I did finally figure it out. I deleted the video.con file from my profile. Next time I started BF2, the program must have created a replacement video.com file using default settings that would work.

Is it just me or has the x1900xtx 2D clocks been reduced to 400/600 instead of the previous 500/600?

Reading up @ Rage3D in their 6.4 thread, you still have to apply the "Chuck" patch to this driver set to get HDR+AA in Oblivion. Also, this driver set degrades F.E.A.R. performance for some reason.

Not that I'm spending much time playing F.E.A.R., Oblivion is occupying my attention, but I think I'll pass on this set anyway.

I no longer have a Radeon, but I think the 6.x series no longer offers the Control Panel.
