Did you actually receive the cable yet? ATI put my cable order in on the 19th, and their site still doesn't have my order listed as shipped, and there's no UPS tracking info at all.
I advise everyone else to just pay the $10-20 extra and buy the retail version from newegg, zzf or where ever you normally prefer. Shop.ati is simply not worth the savings.
I think a BIOS flash is necessary. I'm getting the one I ordered last week on Wednesday. I already downloaded an Asus x800 XT (R423) PCI-E BIOS and lowered the default clock speeds. I'll know if it works in a couple of days.Originally posted by: darkavenger626
Back in stock at ATI for the PCIe. Anyone know of a way to unlock the pipes without flashing the bios? ALso can the PCIe card be flashed?

well......dont know about everybody else......i just recvd the power cable from ATI via fedex.... for the "refurb" x800Pro PCI-e that i got from them....and i had never even called them about it.....so i guess it depends on individual experience
We have pretty much the same system (except my proc is a little slower...), so I'd like to know this tooOriginally posted by: dabuddha
Is this a good replacement for an ati 9800 pro?
CPU = athlon xp 3000+
memory = 1 gig dual channel pc3200
vid card = radeon 9800 pro
Age of Empires 3 is a tad bit slow on my machine so I was thinking the vid card might be my bottleneck.

An x800pro is quite a bit faster than a 9800pro. But you also might want to consider getting something like an x800xl or 6800gt which can be found used for around $220 or less. (x800xl for directx games, 6800gt for opengl games)
Check out these benchmarks for the listed video cards:

And don't worry about having an AXP 3000+. Even with a $200 video card, you'll be video-limited at 1280x1024 and higher when all graphics options are turned on.
Edit: and I'm waiting for these to get a bit cheaper I've seen some x800pro's refurbed for around $160 at other sites, but they sell out quick. (newegg, chiefvalue, etc)
