Edit: and I'm waiting for these to get a bit cheaper I've seen some x800pro's refurbed for around $160 at other sites, but they sell out quick. (newegg, chiefvalue, etc)

i'd look into the X800 GTO2 which has a lowered clock but 16 pipe instead of 12. And ive read they overclock well to so for 200-225$ you have a x850xtpe if it will clock to them speeds.

Athlon XP = AGP
X800 GTO2 = PCI-E

Yep forgot to mention that we have AGP only. Don't want to spend too much money right now to upgrade

Apparently, only the VIVO x800pro's have the potential to unlock the extra 4 pipes to become x800xt's, and ATI is not selling the VIVO's with this deal. My guess is the x800gto agp's also cannot have an extra 4 pipelines unlocked either.

I'm assuming that's a bad thing. But as far as performance goes, how much better will this card be compared to my ole 9800 pro

From the Tom's hardware charts, it's about 50% faster across the board...probably a good thing I dont have the money to get one
