ATI response when questioned about the upcoming Cat 3.3's:
"We have encountered some minor difficulties in obtaining WHQL certification for drivers based on the 7.86 build version. At this time it seems that a fully unified CATALYST release may be postponed for a few weeks"

Bummer......me waits patiently :clock:

Sorry..btw......gleaned from Rage3D Linked

Better safe than sorry. I would rather see them work correctly then have to wait for another patch to fix some issues

Heck, I'm still running 3.1's

us ati owners unfortunately aren't able to take advantage of leaked drivers and be driver whores

anyway, i'll wait as long as i have to, my 3.2 cats are running just nice besides a couple random reboots here and there

I can wait for working drivers.
Yup, me too. Cat 3.3's should be worth the wait. I'm awaiting the support for the fullstream enhanced Divx player, should be a nice performance boost for R300 cards also.

I agree, why release the 3.3's just to have to bust a nut to release Cat. 3.4? Plus they have 200 (I think) enthusiast beta testers pre testing the Cat.'s this time and reporting problems and bugs so that when the 3.3's do come out, they should be absolutely awesome.

And mamisano, that T-Bred I bought from you is treating me real nice i'm liking it.

There are rumors that they are already out:

Dell released driver 6.14.10.6334 for 9700/9800 Linked they say they are WHQL certified, so I'm not sure they are actually Cat 3.3's. I think I'll just wait....not all the cards are supported (AIW ?)

Dell's drivers are not the Catalyst 3.3s and they should be treated as unfinished betas.

As for the wait, yeah it's a small bummer but I'm quite happy to wait as the 3.2s are very nice. I personally appreciate WHQL certification and extra time to get every driver release tested properly.

I`m still running the Cat3.1`s as well. The Cat3.2`s make C&C Generals stutter quite badly on my system., so i went back to 3.1

then go back to the 3.1 drivers and see if the problem is fixed

If you are running the Omega 3.2's you aren't going to get much of a performance increase using the new Dell drivers. 10 points at the most in 3dMark2003

The Dell "3.3" are`nt actually cat3.3, they are a slightly improved cat3.2 thats been optimised for dell baced systems. Think of them as cat3.25.
What are the Omega drivers like anyway. Ive heard of people saying that the image qualitys better, or they`re faster, or more stable. But whats the verdict on them? Worth using?

I've been using the Omega drivers since he fixed the Win98 install issue (Yeah, I still use Win98!), and I have found them to be great!

The 2D quality is better than the "stock" 3.2's, and I actually got better scores in benches! 3DMark 2001 scores increased by 300+ points, 3DMark 2003 by a smaller margin, like 10 points.

More importantly, IQ was greatly improved in all tests, especially with my old Sapphire 8500LE with its 250/183 clocks! It's plenty usable for gaming with these drivers, unlike the 3.2's, which caused tearing, etc...

I also have a Sapphire 8500 clocked at 275/275 stock, which breaks 10K in 3D Mark 2001 using the Omega drivers.

So, I'd recommend giving them a shot!

i found the omega drivers to totally degrade my 9700Pro. at 4xAA16xAF i usually hover around 70-80fps in UT2K3 after i fresh installed the omega drivers it dropped down to 30-40. so ymmv imo.

Omega Driver enables smooth vision 2.1 just so you know =D. Also increased by 3dmark03 score by 300 =D 4200 to 4550. It also fixed instability problems with various games. Great driver overall and adapter string = 9800 =D
