Anyone know the date ATI is supposed to officially announce these and when we'll find them in stores?

I really don't care how it performs compared to the 8800...nvidia has done more than enough to lose my years of business with their Vista clusterF...and now I can't wait to get these 7800 GTX's out of my computer...

I believe its going to be paper launched the last week of March, with cards available in April. Its also rumored to be named 'AMD Radeon X2800', with the usual gambit of letters following it. LE, XT, GT, XTX, etc.

Looks like AMD are going to do a 7950GX2 with the R600XTX2.

Why does it have the same price as the R600XTX?

Less core and memory, and to me it looks like it's 256-bit.

It seems ATI will take advantage of having a slightly smaller card to allow for 2800XTX2. I don?t think Nvidia will have a next gen GX2 card until at least the refresh via 8900 series. If ATI can get drivers working on this card and put two in crossfire I think this can really dominate the extreme high end.

Nice to see the future lineup.

Damn though, $600 US i assume...

I have no interest in dual cards if it's anything like the gimmicky SLI mess that the GX2s were though.

Last I heard it will be "launched" first week of March, and available for sale in the second half of March.

The latest rumors I've heard were it will be announced at Cebit (Mar 15-21) and have cards available by the end of March. That's my kind of launch because than I get to see some reviews before I buy the card. Nothing like waking up at all hours of the morning with your finger on the Buy button only to find out later that day that your card really sucks.

nVidia would probably want to get SLI working before it started worrying about smushing 2 G80s on the same card hehe.

Wonder if Nvidia will launch the 8900 at the same time? Interesting times ahead.

Depends on how their designation scheme works. Pretty sure I remember reading NV planned a GDDR4 refresh when R600 launched with maybe a core speed bump as well. Their OC'd GDDR3 specs are already close to the 1000/1100 GDDR4 specs, but ofc that's not taking into consideration any GDDR4 headroom. A core revision (G81) wasn't planned until Q3 I believe. Personally I think it would make more sense to name any clock/memory refresh 8850 and start the G81 with 8900 but who knows.

Nice looking roadmap though, will be interesting to see what the next few months holds. And AMD on a GPU.....that'll take some time to get used to!

Whats the big deal? Whether the availability is at the end of March or April doesn't really matter its a couple weeks difference.
