I guess since posting a referral link is a no-no, you think posting a link to a page containing a referral link is OK?
I don't think so. But also on that page is a "report spam" link. Maybe someone will click THAT by mistake!
Good luck

I bought one at CompUSA (21 day return policy, no restocking fee now!). The tag on the shelf said $200, but it rang up $150 -- thanks OP for the heads up. It works great for me.

If you're thinking about buying one, check out this ATI HDTV FAQ over at AvsForums.

I can tell you it will work with a 250, but I can't say anything about Beyond, since I use Sage. Also, you will fare better using MCE 2005 as your OS than using the ATI MMC in XP. MMC blows chunks.

Is MCE that much better? I can't imagine that it's worth an additional $130 of software... I don't have problems with MMC w/ XP pro.

I just found MMC to be extremely flaky. Like it would tell me DMA wasn't enabled every time I launched DTV. Screw that.

IMHO, MCE 2005 is *THAT* much better than the ATI MMC app. Like huesmann said, the ATI MMC has proved to be extremely flaky for me. In fact it is almost guaranteed to crash after a short while of viewing DTV.

On the other hand, the MCE integration with this card has been rock solid for me. Installation is a snap and all you need to install is just the ATI HDTV Wonder drivers ... nothing else.

If you already have XP Pro it may be hard to justify another $130 for the MCE 2005, but if you are getting a new OS, it is a no brainer.

Also, if you plan to use this as your primary HDTV PVR HTPC, then MCE is almost a requirement. For occasional usage, the ATI MMC may be okay (if it works for you without crashing ... it didn't for me )

I'm running this card with a PVR 250 & BTV. I'm not sure of what you're asking though?

I've got my cable hooked into my PVR 250 & the HDTV antenna plugged into the ATI HDTV Wonder Card.

Are you asking if you can use the BTV SW with the HDTV Card? If so this is not how I'm using it. I use my PVR 250 with the BTV SW & using MCE 2005 with the HDTV Wonder Card.

Thanks for the link to the AVS forums L00PY

Hope this helps.

^bump. It's still on sale at compusa and still a good deal since most places are $175 or more.

I've had mine for a few weeks after PMing it to BB for 135$ Works great, watched/recorded the last couple weeks of 24 and House just fine.

I do wish it had a better DTV guide, the guide it has only works for CATV/TV and then you have to edit the settings manually if you use it to schedule DTV programs.

You can actually use the guide program while watching DTV. Just have DTV open and then manual start the guide program. It'll still show DTV in the small TV box in the guide program.

Thanks for the idea about manually editing the program to get hd-tv shedules. I'll try that later.

Too bad I didn't think about PMing to BB. I have 2 around here, but it's just a hassle to get there. I might try it this weekend if I'm bored. How'd you get it to $135? It's PM to $150, then 10% of the difference in prices right? That's only $145 if the difference is $50 and 10% of that is $5.

anyone see on the screensavers when they had the eff guy, ren say that after july, hdtv cards will become illegal?

http://www.g4tv.com/screensavers/episod...01_Endangered_Gizmos_Lou_Ferrigno.html

EFF?s Endangered Gizmos
In the ever-changing landscape of digital copyright laws, the gadgets that you?ve come to know and love may one day become illegal. That?s why the Electronic Frontier Foundation has compiled a list of extinct and endangered gizmos. ?We work on a lot of issues that are hard to make concrete,? said the digital rights group?s Ren Bucholz, and this list quickly brings home seemingly distant concepts in copyright.

Two extinct products include DVD X-Copy, software for backing up DVDs, and the Replay TV 4000 PVR. In both cases, the companies were swarmed with lawsuits because their products allowed consumers to break copyright laws.

On the endangered list is the PC HDTV card, which allows you to grab HDTV broadcasts over the airwaves. In July, these products will be illegal to sell, so if you want one, now?s the time to buy.

Check out the EFF?s complete list of Endangered Gizmos. The organization is also requesting suggestions for other gizmos to include on the list.

Hmm, I'll have to try that with the guide program. I've only started the guide by itself and had it use the CATV instead of DTV.

I went to Worsebuy after CompUSSR didn't have it in stock (I ordered online for pickup, but then they called to say they didn't have it in stock). I showed the BB CSR my Compusa online pickup receipt, and they called to confirm the price. I don't know what happened on the phone, because the lady never said anything when the phone was to her ear, but they gave me the price anyway.

At first they rung it up at 150$, but then I asked about the 10%. The CSR claimed she knew nothing about a 10% discount. I told her to look at the huge policy sign on the wall behind her, noting the 10% off for price matches. She looked at it for a few minutes and then decided to give me the 10% off.

I'm not sure if she screwed up again by giving me the 10% off the whole price, instead of 10% on the 50$ difference, but my receipt says:

Reg 199.99 With 50.00 Match competitor price
Reg 149.99 with 10% OFF
Subtotal 134.99

I've been reading http://slashdot.org and it seems like it was ruled that the FCC did not have the right to do that. However, I can't get the direct link right now. I'm not sure how this will change things either. I'll update this post later when I get the link. It was posted a couple of days ago.

I think she made a mistake. I've had that happen to me to. I got an extra $2-3 off an optical mouse I did a PM on. Since it's a mistake, I'm less tempted to try it myself. Not worth the hassle or time to do it. I'll just be happy with the fact that my computer can even run it.
