Case panels with windows, gold plated Voodoo's, led's on memory, lighted fans, case
modding, lan parties; hello... seems to me we still like things that say, wow! DFI and
ECS seem tobe paying attention with mobo's. Yes, ATI has some really wild graphics.
The you put it in and all the cool is upside down, unseen. What's left up is just an ugly
printed circuit board. Build an extented ATX and it's better, but now the graphis are
backward. Am I the only one that notices these things?

Blame the AGP and PCI-E specifications, not ati/nvidia. Frankly I like them this way, otherwise the fan on video cards would be sucking in hot that the processor just blew out.

Yeah, I look at my case all the time when I'm using the PC. Monitors are over rated anyway.

I gather your sarcasm meter's off too, but hey, I can't see the flashy E-VGA on my card either!

Yeah I gotta say, "who cares" As one of the other people said, dust, hot air, etc. Performance is more important than some goofy looking graphics being visible through the overly flashy side window.

The OP seems to thing flashy cases and stuff are more important than actual performance. No?

I think the BTX format solves this issue where the cpu is now located below the videocard and the videocard can blow the air up and the top case air intake fan will help to exhaust it. BTX pic

i like the current design.... else my temps would sky rocket cuz the gpou fan would absorb heat from the cpu heatsink.

I thought the same thing after reading for the umpteenth time why ATI's Crossfire dongle solution sucks. I mean, the Crossfire jokes were funny the first couple of times and the picture of the computer case with a ton of cables coming out of it's back is classic and I had a good chuckle at it the first couple of times. But people, enough is enough. Sometimes, it doesn't matter what the hardware looks like since you just don't look at it much. I mean, you already got at least 6 cables (power, phone/ethernet, monitor, audio, keyboard, mouse) snaking out of the back of your computer, does another cable snaking out of and back into the computer really make a huge difference?

While it might look cool once or twice, after that who really looks at their computer guts? If you really want to admire the hardware so much, screw putting it in a computer. Just get a little display case and admire it to your hearts content.

How are your mobo temps with the heatpipe upside down?

How are your mobo temps with the heatpipe upside down?

ASUS documentation that came with my A8N32-SLI board recomends that you do not use the board upside down like i did. Something to do with gravity affect on the heat pipe? Well I checked it out and durned the PC UPSIDE DOWN and ran Prime for 2 hours with it like that and then right side up. Temps were the same either way at 50c full load and 41c idle with stock air .
