ATI R520 (X1800) benches!!!!!!!

It seems everything is going back and fourth with ATi holding its own just not too long ago and nVidia not being up to par but recently, nVidia sure is kicking buttocks and ATi is once again, not reigning supreme.

Once source "close to ATI" says that such benches are impossible as ATi has only released the X1800XL to the press, not the XT.

I really dont think that a 3rd party would release benchies to a reviewer anyways as it would be a breach of their NDA. That is a huge no-no for a manufacturer. If they were found to do that it would end their contract with ATI...I cant see them risking it. So now we need to wonder where these numbers came from!

Not sure what you mean by "once again, not reigning supreme". I had cards from both manufacturers from last gen (6800GT@Ultra & X850XT PE) and ATI definetely had higher performance.

If these benchies are true than ATI's going to take a pummeling in the high-end market. Hopefully they'll get the 90nm process running like a well-oiled machine and bring the R580 out soon.

That definately sounds like something that would be said on Rage3D. :disgust:

Even if the X1800XT end up being 10fps faster than the GTX, ATI loses if it can't match the price on the GTX/GT.

$$$ is the name of the game and Nvidia is definately winning that war, no matter what benches you use.

Lets be honest here. How professional can a company be to sit there and trash another company for not allowing them to have a product ahead of time. Their whole objective is to make ATI look bad because they're a crappy site. Any respectable site would hold their tongue and move on to different things. You don't air your dirty laundry in public.

It's childish at the very least.

You people who believe this garbage really need to ease up. Whatever happens happens...but don't buy into a site that is doing nothing buy trying to slander a companies product because their such children that they don't have a product.

Not to mention the test beds could be totally different. One could be running a crappy cpu/mobo/ran setup...while the other isn't. There is just too much to go on about.

The benchmarks didn't originate from the press. They came directly from one of ATI's card partners in Taiwan.

jeesh, what sux about that? it was only 6 months or so ago 6800gts were selling around 380. now you can get the 7800gt with bf2 for ~400 .

these benches suck. they're very different from anand and toms. sli is given way more frames than it should in general, and a 7800 gt gets pretty low numbers...

I looked at these this morning and instantly knew they were fake. Roughly the same speed as the 850XT, even with 600 MHz and 1.4 GHz RAM, and a new 90nm design to boot? ROFL

i'm not saying that the x1800xt(crazy name to type...) should be WAY faster than a gtx, but it shouldn't be 10 frames faster than an x850xtpe...everything is just jumbled. i'll believe an official source- anand, toms, extremetech, etc.
