Izpoof, Newegg was gracious enough to honor my request to credit my CC the $7 difference between my purchase price and the then current price of $88. Certainly I could have asked for more, but since the card exceeds my expectations I felt obliged to temper my distaste for what I feel to be misleading advertising with my appreciation for the product.

If the price on this drops much lower I imagine ATI will sweep the market, if they can produce it in quantity as needed. Nvdia seems to be seen as the market leader, and certainly I think they did indeed have both the fastest top end card as well as the best value in the low end. But the LE, in my opinion, rips the low end best value end quite from underneath their feet at least for the time being.

Sorry to intrude withthis question, but I'd appreciate any help on this...

I'm about to upgrade my PII 450 with Matrox G400Max to an Athlon 950 system I was hoping to make do with the video card, but I'm wondering what kind of performance I can expect. I'd hate to miss this deal if it really will make a HUGE difference. Primarily, I need good 2D and enough processing power to get flyable FPS in flight sim type software with visuals turned way up.

Would you upgrade the video card?

One dealer website said that the Radeon 32DDR OEM does not support Hyper-Z out of the box., is this wrong? Is there some registry hack to enable HyperZ ?

And to the dude who is upgrading, totally get a new video card. It might make more of a difference than your new thunderbird.

oldfart, thanks much for the info... edited my registry, oc'd to 183... I feel like I got a hot deal now (I was wondering for a while there). Paid $92. I also just ordered a 64Mb compact flash card from newegg for $75 ($74.99 + $0.01 S&amp;H). But that's another thread.

Of course you can overclock it, but if you look at the benchmarks on the Hard/OCP review of the Radeon, It looks like there is very little difference between the numbers of the LE and regular retail.

So this is a smokin deal! It performs within a couple fps of a retail, at the regular 148mhz, and can be OC'ed easily to the retail speed. Knowing this now, I would get this one. But I already have a 64megger, this one didn't exisist.

This is without a doubt the best bang for the buck card period! There is almost no difference as far as performance compared to the retail. The mhz numbers kind of lie in this respect. Normaly you would think there would be a huge difference, but not in this case.

i don't know about video card very much . but i do use 3dmark 2000 and it give me 5000point (overclock it to 210 or 212mhz)with a litte help from 50mm fan. so for me it very good deal.
