AFAIK the mail-in rebate is for trade-ups but you can send ANY brand video card, no matter how old it is.

I.E. If you still have an old 386-era card it counts, the only question is whether buy.com is a participating retailer or not.

There's a lot of info on the tradeup here, and it looks like it will work with any card. But there's a separate FAQ about MIR's and it doesn't mention anything about sending in a card. Are they the same thing? Is it possible to redeem both?

How does the mail-in rebate work?
Once you receive your new ATI card, you will find a rebate coupon attached to the carton. Fill out the coupon and mail it to us with the proper required documentation and we will send you a cheque for the amount indicated. Mail-in rebate amount is clearly indicated on order form.

It took me 1 day of emailing back and forth. (I send a total of 4 emails, the send me a total of four replies. The first reply is the useless automated reply)

Talked to CSR, and they said they're expecting a lot more in March, but they have about 300 or some orders to fill that were backordered. She also said that more were coming in April and May, but with the way video cards are, the $160 might be the regular price for the VIVO by then.

I emailed ATI to inquire about the tradeup program:



Thanks for your interest in the tradeup program. In this tradeup program,
you tradeup your old video card and purchase the new video card directly
from the tradeup program, not from other sources.

After you receive the new card from Tradeup, you install it and try it out.
Return the old video card within 4 weeks would be fine. You do not have to
return the old video card the time you order your card. There should not be
any time your system is down without a video card.

Well, I know if you buy it from a B&M Best Buy (for $219, I think) there is a $30 MIR advertised.

Yeah, some stores have rebates, either through the store directly, or in the rebate form's fine print it'll say something like "Must be purchased from the following stores". that's why someone said if buy.com is a participating retailer, then you can get the rebate.
