I got lucky and got an open box for $89+ another $30 rebate. But for everyone else, $79 is not bad for this card at all.

Mine was at South Hills, (pittsburgh, PA store)

edit...Updated to the omega drivers and now it works like a charm.

and if anyone knows anything about this card, can you give me some help trying to get it up and running. It won't work for me. (reply in the technical support forum if you have an idea. I don't wanna get flamed at.) I bought another one and still isnt' working. Any help would be appreciated.

Why can't you get it working? It should use ATI's Catalyst 3.6 drivers (or Omega drivers) unless it's OEM, then it might need specific drivers.

8500DV has a FireWire port too IIRC, so you'll need to look at www.ati.com for that. WinXP should get you working with built-in drivers (although not optimal).

Maybe that's the reason for the open box. BB probably didn't check it... maybe person that returned it put in old broken one after he took out shiney new one and then returned.

Anyway, if you did get a properly working one, it should boot up regular at low res and, if an older version of windows, at least be detected as a VGA card. Then install catalyst. Do you at least see the boot sequence?

Heck... even if it is a swapped out POS... he can always go back and exchange it.

The Catalyst drivers should work well. But you can check ATI and see what they have for that particular card.

This would be very hot indeed if it is available elsewhere.

Ha ha ha, I once bought this All in Wonder. Didn't know it was wonderful for trouble. I spent days trying to get it setup. Finally give up and return it back to Bestbuy and bought a VooDoo card. But was years ago so they might change. But it sound like you all having similar problem.

I have the 8500 125mb, use catalyst 3.6 and it is great. Can't wait to get the 9700 but can't spend the cabbage just yet.

I've got a 7500 AIW and 8500 AIW(in different PCs of course), both worked great, no problems installing. Just bought an 8500 AIW for my brother-in-law and he installed his without issue either.

Where did you pick up the card? I'm calling the 800 number AND calling my local stores and none say they carry that particular ATI card....at $79 that is a sick deal...

...For video editing though are there other GOOD alternatives to this card? Thanks

I got an IOMagic PCPVR as a separate PCI solution for TV tuning and capturing. It was $25 before rebate (the rebate is not coming; IOMagic sux).

On the card, there is a coaxial in, composite (RCA) in, sound out (goes to line in on sound card) and a svid in.

I read that ATi TV Wonder VE's suck, so alternatives would includ this card or others like the Leadtek or Asus separate PCI cards at Newegg.

I have this card, didn't have any trouble getting it to work (gaming-wise). Tv took a little innovation, but it worked out at the end.

And yeah, $79 AR is an awesome deal. This has the firewire, decent 3d performance, VIVO, and the remote wonder that sells for like 40 bucks anyway!

I don't trust BB open box items. I've had a VCR and a Receiver both broken that were openbox. They have a horrible service dept. when they check open box items. I bought a reciever that wouldn't even power up. I expected to get a new reciever. All the manager would do is give me my money back. They suck. Needless to say I never went back to that peticular best buy.

Looked like it was the last one there.

Price was $109, but there was no rebate.
