OCIE.Com Website, I do not know their ratings, but it clearly states that this is the retail card. At least something to use your Amex Blue against......

This is a retail alright, looks to be a PowerMagic Radeon 8500. I don't know if it's 230 or 250 core.

A little cheaper than the ones manufacturered by ATI.

Anyone knows a review for this card?

Review for PowerMagic Radeon 8500/7500

Looks really hot and the review says its really good.

Edit: According to the article the only differences between the PM cards and the ATi cards are they are clocked at slightly lower frequences and the fan has a PM sticker on it.

You have to be careful with the third party radeons. Some of them do not work with the ATI driver sets.

I wonder if it's better to wait under February when the new cards come out so the price drop or to get a cheap retail Radeon now

According to the review, it's just an ATI card with a PM sticker slapped on it and it does work with ATI drivers.

Again, I state that I would use the site to PM with an Amex Blue card. I see the box, but looking at the site and how they list the item, I see no reason you could not PM to a regular ATI 8500. Outside the box picture, I do not see it mentioned anywhere that it is a PowerMagic card, thus my reasoning for the above statement.

Hey I just bought a Powermagic Radeon 8500... i uninstalled my old nvidia drivers and am still having problems installing drivers in win2k.

Ive tried installing the drivers from the cd, the manufacturers website and the new beta drivers. No dice.

Everytime i install, it says:

"An error occured during the installation of the device

The data is invalid."

or it wont even begin copying the files and says:

"Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard vga driver before running setup."

Does anyone have one of these cards? Anyone have any insights?

Eric
