That's only partially true. The 9800 Non-PRO also never had a HL2 sticker on them, but there were deals where a coupon from the store where you bought the card would let you send away for the HL2 coupon. That was the case for me, anyway.
Before buying the 9600PRO, you might want to confirm with NewEgg if they have a HL2 offer, that'll tell you for sure.

Also if the budget allows $200, see if you can find a 9800 Non-PRO at Circuit City or Microcenter. Maybe you'll get lucky; the 9800 easily outpaces any 9600, PRO or XT. Stay away from anything SE, that also goes for the 9800.

some of the 9600 PRO's (non-AIW) supposedly did come w/ the HL2 coupon. In the ad for compusa in the LA area, it had a picture of HL2 on the box of the 9600 PRO's that were not AIW, but at the store it didn't... but they let me select another game because of this. So unless that picture in the CUSA ad was drawn in, somewhere out there 9600pro's have an HL2 coupon

Same here, looking to upgrade my 8500 Radeon 64mb, is this 9600XT from allstarshop the best deal so far on ATI cards in the $150 range?

yea that turned out to be the last time i shopped there too. I got 2 bad cards from them, the tech guy at the other location where I took it back said there was a completely bad lot of cards where i got mine, and they still were trying to give me credit instead of $$ back

So the criterias i came up with so far are:
-- For ~$150 go for the 9600 XT from allstarshop
-- For ~$200 get a 9800 Pro if available (Microcenter?)

I just orderd the 9600XT for 155 shipped. Seeing as a the 9600PRO is 140 shipped at
newegg it seems like a good deal. Also a review at Hardocp says the core is easily
OC'able to 550+ Mhz makes it even better. Hopefully it will include the HL2 coupon too
but it's an OEM card so I dought it...

Could anyone that already got that card comment on it? I never bought a 'power by ATI' is it really the same as an ATI retail? What type of memory? Overclockable to? comes with DVI adapter?

BTW, mhedhli, i think you need a special version of this card for mac. I'm not a specialist but i've seen at BB and else that they have two versions, pc or mac.
