well in my situation the gf2 was more money than the radeon 32ddr, and I cannot justify spending over 150 for any single computer component that will be outdated in a matter of weeks if it isnt allready by the ime I buy it (with cdrw's, printers, an monitors being the exception sine even if they are "outdated" they are still ok)
and the radeon looked like a sweet card, may not be as fast as the gf2 but supposedly the image quality is better and it has more innovative technology along with support for directx 8
I had a budget of 150, so it was either the radeon or a gf2 mx, and I wanted to be somewhat high tech which in my mind means at least 32 bit color at 1024x 768, support for newer technology (dx8) and a cool fan on the heatsink (yeah it is silly reasoning but man I like video cards with little fans on them, this is my first to come with one stock and next I will be buying the kt7 and an athlon 700 just for the fan on the chipset and the performance boost )
I am very happy with my radeon, it is much better than my v3 2000 and I think I made the right choice in comparison to the gf2 mx by hercules
