ATI Radeon X700

Hi,

1 - Is this Radeon X700 recommended card to buy?

2- is it a good cost X benefits chip?

3- Will this card run every game properly?

4- Is there any compatibility problems w/ ATI X700 chipset and nVidia nForce4 motherboard?

Buy a 6600GT for $45 more if you want to play new games like BF2 at decent res and detail.

you can still play bf2 decently with an x700, gamespots hardware review lumped the 6600gt and x700 as cards that should play the game on medium settings, the 6600gt was significantly faster though

that's a X700 non-pro, so it'll be a lot slower than a 6600GT. The X700 PRO is in the same league as the 6600GT, although it's still a bit slower. The X700 is definitely a lot better than the plain 6600, though, so if you really can't spend more than $120, then maybe it's the way to go. I'd rather spend $150ish on a 9800 Pro or $160ish on a 6600GT, though, since they are pretty damn capable for today's most demanding games, (the 6600GT is also a pretty good overclocker, mine is almost 15% overclocked) whereas you'll already have to make a lot of sacrifices with an X700 non-pro. Also, for a midrange card, opting for 256MB of RAM is worthless, since in order to use a memory footprint above 128MB, most games would need to be run at 1600x1200 with AA/AF enabled, and at those settings, your card would be utterly thrashed anyways. 256MB buffers are only needed by cards like the X800XL and above.

The card sucks, you are wasting you money with the 256MB. The price/performance point is about 200, so no. The card is compatible.
