ATI Releases More "R600" Details

My 8800GTS is gonna be ebay'd quick if it can actually do something with those 320 stream processors. Can't wait for benchmarks to show up.

I'm very intrigued by the 24xAA also, but I'm definitely going to wait for benchmarks and to see what the retail cooler is all about in terms of heat, noise, and size. I don't so much mind the OEM cooler, as it looks like it would work very well, but I don't think that card will fit in my case.

Hmmm... That's a pretty harsh judgement of the buyer... $350 for a GTX is a smokin' deal.

I think as far as SLI goes, you have to wait until the second generation of a new core technology (ie: for DX9 SLI, NV40 -> G70). I bet that G90 SLI will be where it's at. Crossfire may also improve tremendously now that AMD is really pushing ATI's chipset technology out into the market. Their chipsets are simpy going to have to be better than what they have been in the past if AMD wants to achieve its goal of providing a platform to system builders.

"The Turkish website FX57.net spilled the beans today. They allegedly tested the R600XT and XTX model on a Conroe 2.93Ghz with 2GB DDR2-800 RAM together with an Intel i975x motherboard. They came up with the following results in 3DMark 06:

Radeon HD 2900 XTX: 12k | GeForce 8800GTX: 10.5k
Radeon HD 2900 XT: 10k | GeForce 8800GTS: 9k

The operating system used was Windows Vista. They used the Catalyst 7.1 (8.33) which seems rather strange, other reviewers report about issues with drivers, so newer ones should be more likely to be used for testing/benchmarking. Gaming benches are key here. If the card can do 6AA with minimal performance hit at 1600x1200 I'll be far more impressed than if it is 20% be faster in 3dMark.

Plus those scores seem high for Geforce 8 cards - Link

If you read the review you linked to, those 3dmark scores were using an FX-60.

Of course a 2.93GHZ C2D is going to yield higher scores.

Wow, I dont know what the hell stream processors do, but seeing as the GTX "only" has 128, makes this look impressive.

Might have to buy a new card soon, so hoping this is cheapish and fast.

Doubt whether current 8800GTX owners should trade their card in for R600, to be honest.

And wheres the damn games to play with your new hardware anyway?? Consoles are the future IMHO. Piracy has all but killed PC gaming.
