Interesting what they have to say about the voltage shortening the life. Still, it seems like damage control to me.

With all the companies offering lifetime warranties, who cares?

Their hail mary X1800XT couldn't even get close to stopping the 7800GTX 512 steamroller. Damage control is an understatement.

It's pretty stupid - of course the X1800XT is faster than the 7800GTX, it came out like 6 months later!

About the only good point made is about the voltage on the NV cards, which explains the high temps. ATI's card isn't exactly cool running either, though.

Also the point on availability is funny too. The 512MB GTX isn't exactly a common card to find, so they have a bit of a point there too.

I don't see an x1800 XT widely available either.

Apparently they (Ati) still put the x1800xt as the competitor to the 256mb gtx, and their answer to the 512mb gtx is TBA. Things are gonna be interesting in the next month or so.

It wasnt a hail mary, it was a planned release, that got pushed back.

But I forgot... you tested it months before anyone else...

Then you are not looking. The XT is far more available than the 512mb GTX. Hopefully the GTX will get out in more numbers, and the prices will fall. However, that is not the case right now. B&M stores have the XT on the shelf, I have yet to see or hear of a single 512mb GTX on any shelf.

Ya this is pretty bad thing ATI did here. Since I ordered A 7800GTX 512. there is 1 point here that did catch my eye. Overvolting beyond the fabs recommened voltage this does concern me alot. O/C doesn't kill components nearly as fast as overvolting.
But I don't know if ATI is telling the trueth hear. But I will find out.

Just found it. Hope it's not a repost.

This is ATI's new marketing plan? Scare consumers into using a slower based card based on estimated failure rates?

btw which card has a lifetime warranty and which one doesnt?

kthxbye.

Uhhh... No, they just like to trash talk about the other company? Nvidia also posts anti-Ati slides, so this is nothing special. But I would like to see what their answer to the 512gtx will be, besides just these slides.

Is ATI talking about themselves or nVidia, seriously.

Pure hypocrisy on their end.

And saying it will fail in approximately 1170 hours.....thats what about 49 or 50 days??

Here's my 2 cents, if ATI would have had a card released in September when I built my new rig for school I could(not would) have bought a card from them....however at the time they had nothing new generation wise on the market...

I hate it when companies act like little children....yeesh

ATI will have the PE edition. That will be the hail Mary.

Until the R580.

i hate to say it,...but i knew this was coming,...ATI did this when nvidia did SM3.0,.....and when nvidia came out with SLi(and im sure theres others but im tired and i really dont care to look),...and theres a couple things that stick out to me,...first one is,...ATI is pulling the voltage card,...while saying its not for enthusiast's,...how many enthusiasts are using "higher than industry standard" voltages on any part in thier system?,....and do those parts last more than 1,000 hours?,..of course they do ,..why?,..because they are cooled properly,....and has ATI seen the heatpipe cooler on that beast?,..its kinda hard to miss(cuz its soo damn sexay! ),...of course they see it,..they just think consumers are idiots,...and another things about availibility,....umm,..on various forums theres 7800gtx 512mb's poppin up in peoples sigs at a suprising rate,....and that speaks for itself

basically ATI is stateing thier knowledge of the enthusiast community by saying voltage shouldnt be higher than industry standard,....they completly broke thier poker face on this

Haha one of the slides has an email directly from Brian Burke of Nvidia. Some Nvidia partners are not loyal?
