Sweet! Have you found anything that says how much credit they give you for different cards?

It says the 9700 costs $350 if I have a trade in, but it looks like you have to fill out the form and everything to find out how much they will give you back for the trade in.

If they'll take my Ti4200 off my hands for more than I could sell it for, I'm game.

I have a feeling they are going to give a flat rate back on ATI-based cards only.

Yeah, I just thought of that since the price for the 9700 is $400 on the main page but $350 on the trade in thing.
That sucks... It would be good for someone with an ancient POS card though.

RADEON 8500 MAC EDITION 64MB AGP 100-431050 $149.00 USD

Nice. I have been thinking of getting an 8500 for my G4. I can toss them an old RageIIc and get it for $149.

I hate to rain on the parade, but they've been doing this for a couple years, and it's a pretty weak deal. For one thing you have to pay their over-inflated retail price, and they'll only give you $50 on your trade ($100 if you buy certain things). For instance, you can get the AIW 8500 for around $220 shipped from other vendors, where from ATI, AFTER your trade-in, it's $249 and you still have to pay shipping.

He never got one.

He cancelled his order & bought an Nvidia based card instead.

Not for me. The cheapest I have been able to find the Mac 8500 for is around 190-195.

I can shoot them an old-school AGP Rage IIc and get it for $149+$15 = $164. Not spectacular, but a good deal considering I can't get $10 for the video card I am trading in.

prices seem high to me.

i was hoping to trade in my old Geforce SDR but i can get the 9000 pro at encpc for $77.00 why would i send them this card (costs $5.00 to ship) plus pay them $99.00 for the card, $15.00 for shipping and a $50.00 deposit.

not much of a deal if you ask me.

Well, I bought a Geforce4 mx420 just so I could play the Asheron's Call 2 Beta. It only supported Geforce cards. Then I bought a Radeon 9700 Pro to replace the Geforce.

It may work better for the Mac stuff since there's less retail outlets for it, I suppose. I've been drawn to this "deal" quite a few times over the years. There was a point last year where the were offering double trade-in value on one of the older all-in-wonders and I almost fell for it until I did a quick search of prices elsewhere and found that I could STILL get it for less somewhere else.

My old Banshee isn't worth $10, but there's no sense trading it in for $50 if you end up spending more in the process, right?

An even better deal is to know someone working at ATI. A 9700 for only $200. Yummy...

So you work at ati, or know someone who does?
