that's a pretty cold deal, i paid the same price for this video card over a year ago almost, and it's ok i guess. i have problems with it, especially with the new win2000 beta drivers...and it also has compatability issues w/ my TNT2.
I've always remembered reading good reviews about Happauage (sp)? Here's a good hardware thread with 10 posts. There's others in that forum, just search for TV.
not a hot deal. there was a volumebuy on this product about 8 months ago thru this forum, we got the price down to something like 34$ before shipping and handling.
ohya, and did i mention that ATI just got drivers for this prudct under 2k, and they have led my machine to bluescreen more then a few times, so it's currently residing in my brother's 98 box.
This is a horrible price for a horrible card. I orginally paid $40 for mine and it gave me numerous problems over and over in win 98. When I upgraded to 2K they didn't have the drivers so I bought a Voodoo 3500 instead and I haven't had a problem yet even with the beta drivers for 2k.
I purchased a Pinnacle tv tuner(pci) and capture card and haven't had any problems. it took them awhile to release stable drivers for W2k, but now it is pure simpson luvin
I just bought one @ outpost for $69.95 with next day shipping. I had a fair amount of trouble getting it to work with win2k. Cool thing about the card is that when you minimize the TV window, your background becomes the TV.
i got ATI TV Wonder more than one year ago, I am very happy with it. The picture quality is just excellent. One problem is that this card can't be used in Windows 2000, their long delay beta software is sucks and cause win2k to crash frequently, consider Windows 2000 is relative staple system, this is not a good sign.
I use 98 so the ATI Wonder shouldn't be too bad for my system... The hardware by itself has gotten better reviews then the WinTV or so I've heard. But between the two, anyone who has 98 OS that knows which one is better?
Bcd, I think what you purchased was the ATI TV Wonder VE (Value Edition). No stereo TV like the full version, and it only captures video to ATI's proprietary format (Full card captures to ATI's format plus mpeg). There's one other difference but can't remember it now. And I think when I was in Best Buy tonight I saw that there was a $10 MIR on TV Wonder VE.
If you pricematch staples with shopati and then use a $25 coupon, you get the price down to $55.00 plus tax... though i haven't tried this, it should work without a hitch. Remind them that shipping is 3-5 days on this item so that they don't tag on overnight shipping on a competitors price when pricematching.
