If one were to combine this card with a Radeon 64MB DDR, you would essentially have an All-In-Wonder 64MB. Video capture rate for MPEG is only 640x480 for the Radeon 64 as compared to 720x576 for the All-In-Wonder, but hey. ViVo, DVD, timed programs to your hard drive, would all be there except the TVGuide thingy(and that's promo software), and you could have 64 MB of DDR instead of 32 MB for around $20 more. Does this sound right or am I missing a large chunk of obvious logic?

Coolmint, The Radeon 64 does the mpeg (see capture figures above), the VE would just act as the TUNER. ViVo on both. In one, out to the other?
Hatexd, @640x420 MPEG2 NTSC 5hrs. = 13Gb I think? (read it off the log on my AIW)

This card has no TV output. I like a TV tuner card with TV output, so that I can watch movie on TV.

I did not see it is mono in specifications. How do you konw, WDK?

And jbaj007, 5hrs. = 13Gb? So 2 hrs=5Gb? But I know a 2 hrs DVD movie only need 1 DVD, and 2 hrs VCD/SVCD need no more than 2 CDR(mpeg format, or .dat file). If 2 hrs=5Gb, how can I compress them to 2-3 CDR?

This card is not mono. It does not have mpeg compression. The way around that is to use a software package that does aka Virtualdub. I have this card and it is a cheap video editing and recording solution. Plays TV just fine but you might have to do some registry editing to get the frames to display correctly for certain cards. About the question for how much hard drive space does it take for 2 hours of TV. Well, it all depends on the compression you use. I used Divx quality compression, with full cd quality sound, and it took about 2 gigs for a two hour movie. I then compressed the audio to 128bit mp3 and the whole thing was about 900 megs. Not too bad. For the price, this card is a good deal.

Not too sure if this is a dumb question, but here it is anyways: Is the "in" connection coax, RCA, BNC?

The The TVWonder VE has an RCA input for capturing video, no SuperVideo connector (the SVHS input is available on the standard TV Wonder not the Value Edition (VE). Both TV Wonders have compatibility issues with Nvidia based video cards and overlay support (there are workarounds, but, there are still issues).

FYI, ATI doesn't put updated drivers for this card on their webpage because of some kind of licensing issues... so, if they do come out with any they'll have to be ordered via snailmail.

Thanks jblondi.

Yeah, if I can record a movie in 2-3 CD-R after compressing, it is nice. Then I do not need VHS tape to record movies. But what kind of software can do this job? 2 Gig HD is still too large. It costs much more than VHS tape actually.

The rebate is *usually* on the box, and this is mono, says so on their site.

Just went to the store and picked it up along with the rebates. One rebate seems like MFG and the other seems like CompUSA and both
say they want original UPC code. Has anyone else noticed this?
Will CompUSA accept a copy of the UPC symbol.

I noticed this, as well. I'm going to go to CompUSA when I get a chance and request that they give me $10 to cover the CompUSA rebate, in any case.
