ATi versus nVidia: Pointless Poll

I'm just curious to see where our biases lie. I predict a slight edge to ATi. Please do not read anything into this poll; I'm just curious to see what people prefer. I personally believe brand loyalty is for the stupid but I have a slight bias towards nVidia. Why? Because green and black are more aesthetically pleasing than red and white. Also, they have better tech demos (a.k.a. 3D sex fairies).

If you have a stupid and pointless or serious reason for favoring one over the other, feel free to list it here.

If you're having trouble deciding, a good thing to ask yourself is: If there were two big, burly guys, one named nVidia and one named ATi, who would win in the octagon?

their classic control panel is still the best ive ever used (yeap - im still using them on my 8800GTS).

I'm partial to Nvidia here, not a fanboy . I've had two experiences with ATI cards over the years and wasn't too happy with either of them (installation, game compatibility problems and such). I'm not saying they're bad cards, just my experiences left a bitter taste. Only way I'd consider ATI again is if they manage to utterly trounce anything Nvidia has to offer (both in performance and trouble-free running) at comparable costs. That said, I hope ATI continues to do well as competition is good.

I have no preference. I go with whatever is the best price/performance/quality. That being said I've gone NVIDIA with both my builds. Began with a 6600gt and now have a 7900GTO (IQ could be better though...) I'll see who is leading with G90 and R700 before I upgrade.

i can't say i am neutral and i can't say i prefer either company ...
-perhaps i hate them both but buy whichever card "fits" best at the time i am buying.

finally there is no "ATi" ... it really is AMD

Neutral. I've had good and bad experiences with both companies card's, but whichever gives me a more powerful PC makes me happy

I voted Nvidia.

I love the ATI cards that I own(ed), but given the same price and performance, I'll go with Nvidia every time.

Green is my favorite color and red just doesnt go well inside my case.

Oh and as long as ATI keeps giving us coolers with little mini-race car engines, my opinion is probably not going to be swayed.

I voted neutral, I buy which ever is the best at the time I need a new video card. Right now I have the following:

nVidia:
-7900 GTX for laptop
-8800 GTX for shuttle/desktop

AMD:
-X1600 for mac laptop


The mac lappy is my wife's and doesn't get any use from me. Basically all I use right now is nVidia. That said, I do prefer red pcb's to green ones so if both AMD/nVidia had equally performing parts, I'd choose AMD for the red color (unless an nVidia partner had a black pcb to offer).

Sheesh, this whole poll is supposed to be a joke satirizing the passionate but often pointless ATi versus nVidia debates. I thought it might be fun for people to vent mindlessly for/against their favorite video card company. Surely you guys must have rooted for something in your lives that you knew was stupid but deep down in your subconscious mind, you liked it anyway. Lock it up if you want but please know that this poll was not supposed to be serious in the first place.
