This thing would drain the juice out of my Antec 480...

But really nice price.

Why is this card so cheap? I'm looking at the becnhmarks. This card is serious. What's the catch here? No rebates....just plain very cheap...looks like an awesome deal.

It's been out for a while, and although this is a good price for one, it's been on sale a few times in the past couple of months with a rebate for the same price. So now without the rebate, it's a lot more attractive, but it isn't "Blow off your pants hot!", but more "I got hot stuff in my pants!" hot.

And that last sentence came off so wrong, but I'm lazy to backspace my typing.

The card looks different on newegg than any other retailer including sapphire's page. It's got an all red cooler in lieu of a white one that appears on other photos. This card claims to have hdcp as well. I am wondering if they really mean HDCP or just hdtv ready...
Anyone know why this card looks different than other sapphire 1900GT' s?

If it's the same design different color, then it's just a different color. If it's a different design it's because this is a rev 2 x1900gt; the rev 1 used a different cooler and is slightly faster overall (higher core clock, lower mem clock than rev 2). I have the rev 1, got it in the fs/ft forum a couple months ago for $125 shipped, but even so this is still a pretty decent deal.

The X1900GT's actually a better card, for $5 definitely go with it, especially since you don't have to wait for a rebate.

Well... this might be a winner for my system build next month. I've been looking at the 7900GS from Fry's for $119 (AR), but the reviews on this card are about the same or slightly better.

People on reviews are complaining about the size but not the power consumption.

I've got a couple of weeks to think about it, so I'm hoping they don't all disappear.

didn't search for article, but wasn't there some hoopla that the 1900's got downclocked (without a product name change) when the 1950's came out??? could that be the case here?

interesting that sapphire's site doesn't show speed of this card, nor newegg...

sapphire 1900's

beware... there may be hokey pokey going on here...

and the reviews all show that this thing is a hot hot runner... just like my 1800... be ready to crank the fan and hear some noise...

very reasonable price/perf, but not without potential downside...

Ok guys, I think I might have cracked the mystery.

The picture on Newegg shows the v2 revision. In other words, it's a newer card.

Based on this site:

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=415&card2=484

Now I'm not saying NewEgg is selling the V2 card, but their picture is of the V2 card. So basically it just might be a mistake on their part. If anything, the v2 cards are lower clocked than the original ones, as cubeless suggested.

I was reading the comparison of the X1900GT to the 7900GS on this site, and they have a picture of the big red plastic-covered X1900GT and they mention the downclocked GPU and increased clocking on the memory right there on the first page.

They also show overclocked results towards the end of their report.

I was also reading through the Newegg reviews and some guy mentioned that the fan controller (versus temperature) for this card is downloadable and that the tolerances can be set lower to keep it cooler.

Power supply calculator

Yes, as other noticed, this is Rev 2. I think most of the reviews are thinking Rev 1.
An advantage to Rev2 is it's very low power usage.
I've now installed the Connect3d version (same ref design) of these in two mATX systems, one with a 250w (only as a 3 day test) and the other primary HTPC with a 300w.
Was used as an upgrade from x800 and 7600GT.
Stock clocked in gaming, it's twice the speed of x800 and 50% faster than the 7600GT.
ZERO problems or issues even when overclocked!!!!
Of course if you are stuck with an Antec PS, then maybe you should stick with onboard video

Again, no problem with 300w (or less if good quality).
Rev 2 is also very quiet, with fan staying on low during all gaming and 3d tests.
Thin fan design also does not use additional slot space like Rev 1 x1900GT's do.

Using ATi Tray Tools and latest CC drivers.
stock 513/657.
overclocked to 594/819 (594/1638) with no artifacts or power supply issues.

Power supply calculator
(note that they use the higher wattage x1900GT Rev1, and my 3Ghz Opteron test system still needs less than 240 wattts, so this Rev 2 would be even better!)

Nope, 480 is plenty, we run an X1950XT w/ an FSP 450W no problem.

Anybody know if this card will run in an AsRock 775Dual Vista or Quad VSTA?

I need to replace this Sapphire X600XT PCIe that keeps crashing. AsRock's list of approved cards does not mention any Sapphires at all!

++++++++++++
Update --- Runs fine. Not very fast, but that could be the AssRock Mobo PCIEx4 limitation?
