That could be a cheap holdover card for 6 months

if you trust sapphire rebates, that is. I remain skeptical :Q

yeah, I saw that one. It's nice, but too close to a new x1950xt, even with the x2 taken into account.

I've been talking to this gent about his card - the price does seem a little steep for a x1900 - even though it is running at xtx speeds, doesn't it?

Maybe. I bought another X1900 XT w/ VF900-Cu off of LOUISSSSS for $165 shipped and I think I got a good deal. I'd say $175 is not a great deal but not necessarily a bad deal. Things to keep in mind:

1. The stock dual-slot cooler is really loud and not that good at cooling. For me, I'd need a custom cooler anyway.
2. You can clock practically any X1900 XT to XTX speeds very easily because the clock speeds are so close. I'm not sure about this, but I heard that the XTX has RAM chips that are rated at 0.1ns faster than the XT RAM chips.
3. You can get a new GeCube X1950 XT 512MB for $190 + tax + shipping off of NewEgg. I live in California so I'd have to pay 8.25% tax, which is almost $16. That makes buying off the FS forums a lot better for me.

Some of those open box deals seem really good, but they only give you the hardware with no manuals or accessories. Maybe not so bad since you can download the drivers, but if you bought a videocard that supported HDMI and you didn't get the adapter it could be a problem assuming you wanted to use the feature.

I just sold my old X1900XT for $100 shipped last week after I upgraded. I know I could have gotten more for it but I really didn't want it sitting around for long.

Ha ha, I just applied the AS5 and I'm going to check the temperatures/flash the BIOS right now.

Depends on your 256MB versus 512MB needs. Resolution, games you play, etc. Tom's Hardware shows the two to be somewhat identical but the games that Tom's Hardware uses aren't exactly the most up-to-date.

On a side note I checked and noticed an HIS x1950xt Open Box for 169 at the egg

In 30 minutes the price dropped $10 to $159

I am going to hi-jack my own thread with a different question because you all have been so helpful:

I have two Dell Desktops on order because I cannot make up my mind on which one to keep.

Option (A) $629 from SB
Vostro 400
Intel E6550
XP Ops
2GB 800mhz RAM
19" monitor
80GB Hard drive
CD/DVD +/- RW
Video Card 8600GS

Option (B) $649 from Home
Inspiron 530
Intel E6550
XP Ops
1GB 667mhz RAM
20" monitor
320GB Hard drive
CD/DVD +/- RW
Integrated Video Card
Free shipping labels for returning one old PC (I have an old old old one)

I do not care about the video card because I already bought the Sapphire X1950XT. So given that which one is the better option and why??

Thanks in advance!

I got my Open Box x1950xt and finally installed it. After some tweaking the drives I downloaded and .Net 3.0...I am up and running. Works really well.

A just b/c of the ram. 19" vs 20" monitor is not much of a change but you'll run out of memory a lot with only 1 gb. plus you can sell the 8600 gs from #1 if you want extra hard drive space.
