ATI X1950XTX - question about 'S-Video' looking connection - what is it? (and now a link to a PDF manual for it)

Hi all,

Firstly, hi to all of you and thanks for things you've solved for me in the past; now I'm a member.

I just got my grubby little hands on a lovely ATI X-1950-XTX. What a beauty!
My question is - it came without any breakout boxes or cables - and I'm confused about the S-Video looking connection between the 2 DVI sockets.

Since first posting this I've received the manual and some useful info from my contact at ATI UK - The PDF manual for the X1950XTX is here and the useful info is on page 38. But I still need to know what else the socket is capable of.
The manual says that if you use the component connector it replaces any other connector, but what are the other connectors and what can they do?

So it's HDTV capable, but is it ViVo (Video In Video Out) Component In & Out capable?

And if it is, where can I get all the cables from? (And I'm in the UK).

I believe it's at least HDTV. I don't think you can do Video IN although I could be wrong. My previous X1800XL had the same thing but I couldn't do Video IN.

It's a mini-DIN connector. The card will come with an adapter that you plug in, and on the end of the adapter you'll have various inputs and outputs. I believe my 7800GT has component output and s-video input using this connector.

the x1950xtx as well as many of the x18 and x19 series cards have vivo by default. What you need is a special cable for either vivo or hdtv which are normally included.

Hmm...guess I was wrong about Video In then.

Thanks for the info Cript, and the ATI links.

The 9 pin connector looks good, but the 7 pin connector looks as though it has a black plastic bar on the inside that means the connector won't fit in the socket (like the little black bar on the inside of an S-Video connector).

Or maybe the roll over images are a bit fuzzy?
