Um, its more like ATI didn't come through BECAUSE of places like CompUSA, because ATI did come through, just to CUSA and not the customers. Those who preordered would have had their cards by now if ATI didn't prefer the middle-man to the customer...which is wierd, because you'd think ATI would make more money off of directly selling their cards to the customer. ATI needs to get their cards to the stores, not the online channels of other stores. They aren't gaining new customers by having CUSA sell out these cards online, because its the same people who preordered and were sick of waiting from ATI.

I definitely agree with you here. ATI has some strange business practices (must be the Canadian water). But being a consumer, I'm pretty much at the mercy of big business. If it was up to me, I'd rather have had my $240 pre-order come straight from ATI. But the fact of the matter is that ATI doesn't care about poor little Joe Schmo that pre-ordered from their website. They care about big business.

If I can get the card I want from CUSA and it costs me $70 more to have it today, I'd rather do that then play the waiting game again with ATI. Estimates now put the card shipping mid-march. I pre-ordered on 1/12. That extra $70 is well worth it to me if I can have the card today (and it was still under MSRP, even with overnight delivery) from CUSA rather than wait any longer with ATI.

Either way, I feel ATI is on the losing side here. They couldn't deliver on the X850 XT pre-orders, and it looks like they might not be able to deliver on the X800 XL pre-orders as well. But who knows, this might be their plan to get those pre-orders self-canceled, thus saving them the trouble, but also getting a little more green for their cards, since so many of us did get 30% off a $299 MSRP card...

I remember posting this same deal in another thread when i bought my X850xt PE from compusabusiness for $480. I think it was a little higher when I posted it though.

How big a difference does the 'VideoShader HD' make in helping with encoding MPEG 1/2/4?

Thanks

Anyone with an extra one of these, I'd be interested in making a trade of some sort with my 6800GT AGP card. Prefferably someone in SoCal with high heat. LMK. Card is in my fs thread.

Just got mine this morning. Wish it had VIVO and was dual dvi but I guess for the price I shouldn't complain. Anybody try it out yet?

Installed mine yesterday, but didn't get much playing time because of the gf , but I put the settings on KOTOR2 and HL2 to the highest, and both ran without a hitch. I was missing out so much playing HL2 on my 9500 softmod to 9700.

All in all, fantastic card. Much more quiet than the temporary X700 Pro that I had before I got this card. Can't wait for a new ATI Silencer for this. Will try some synthetic benchmarks with this later today, hopefully.

Yeah but how much are they selling them to CUSA? IF CUSA is getting htem for $240 per unit then ATI isn't making any more money going to them, even if you were one of the few that got the full 30% off...I didn't get in on this deal when they were in stock, but I ordered from the backordered, so we'll see which one comes first. Unfortunatly I've got a crazy guess that it is going to be CUSA. Its not that big of a deal to me because I'd save only $15 by sticking with my preorder, but based on what has happened with the X850 preorders, it might be a good thing I ordered from CUSA as well.

Got mine in the mail today, gotta love when FedEx ground takes less then their posted 3-5 days, not only that but some CompUSA dude apparently called to check on the status of my package.. or thats what my Step-dad said he wanted. So great price at $294 and change, great shipping, great service, and the card looks sweet in its shrink wrapped box. Looks like this thread will generate some happy endings after all.

Mine still didn't ship. I guess it went OOS when I was ordering. Hopefully someone's credit card gets declined again so mine will ship.

Funny stuff, I called the Mission Viejo store this afternoon, the guy on the phone checked and said they haven't arrived but should be there in a week. Ended up calling the Tustin store, they had two in stock. Had my friend go pick it up, while he was there someone else happened to be there picking up the card also. Got the manager to price-match the $272 "business" price. Awesome. Stupid california and their tax =-(

Who actually manufactured these cards? It doesn't say Power Color, Asus or Sapphire on the HSF like their modles do.. so who exeactly made these cards, its not just some generic card company is it?

Looks like ATI is going to win if only because I did not get in on the deal earlier, as I got a call (and an email) to confirm my billing and shipping adresses. CUSA is still listed as "Open" as they appear to still be backordered.

I just ordered mine around 6 after this post and I just got an email saying that it shipped today the 25th at 3PM. Wow 291 shipped with tax and shipping. Now will have to see if the ATI order ships and return this one. Have a Compusa down the street
