ATI's new drivers problem

Anyone else having this problem? They just updated their drivers and I have an original Radeon 32MB DDR card.

After an install, it reboots where I get this error:

STOP d0000144 unknown hard error.

I previously had StyleXP but when I installed it wouldn't let me even log in. Eventually I got into safe mode and unistalled both drivers and styleXP.

Any ideas?

Did you choose the right OS?

Try reinstalling them again..

It really didn't hose it, just a bad install..

Just a tip, but next time choose a better title. Your's sounds more like flaim bate and people at these forums are easy to get started

Try Driver Cleaner 1.5 to remove all traces of the old drivers and try a fresh set of new drivers,see if that works,as for styleXP I don`t have much experience with that ,but you did remove it so if all goes well after driver install you can reinstall it and see how it goes stability wise.

Is what I used, I have windows xp, so it was the right OS.

I've tried it a few times already, but I'm going to try that driver cleaner and reinstall again.

I was trying to downgrade it to just standard vga, but couldn't find out how it as an option.

1 way is to
type regedit in the start /run box and remove all ati references
but windows xp keeps a file of old drivers in the windows /system 32/ drivers folder and tries to reload those every time. i usually delete all files starting in ati there also . reboot,at that time you can choose to set it to a standard agp driver and reboot then load drivers

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, do NOT do that. That's extremely foolish at best.

well, I'm still somewhat hosed...

I've done the driver cleaner which works pretty good, but I don't think it gets everything.

I've uninstalled all ATI related things and just installed an older version of the driver, so I now have a 'clean' driver install and am going to try the new driver again which didn't work. DOH!

well, I somehow fixed it.

I ended up uninstalling the ATI dvd software(had original and newer) and now it works. Go frickin figure.
