Now only if we could drop a few on the entire Middle East...
Sixty five years ago today.
BOOM!
My dad was stationed in the Philippines (today is his birthday). He was among some of the first ground troops to go to Hiroshima. I took him his present today and we got to talking about it. He said the most memorable thing about it was the lack of rubble from all the destruction. It was unlike all the other sites he had been to that were bombed out, in that rather than all the buildings laying in heaps it was like it had been swept clean. There was nothing.
nice rewriting of history.I've commonly heard that the firebombings of Dresden were worse but this is only taught in US schools. In reality around 30k died in the firebombings while around 500k totally died by or because of the nukes dropped over Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
I also have to ask why, the only thing left in the peace treaty was that the empereor had to step down, he refused but the Japanese army had already surrendered and retracted before this, the bombes were dropped and then the emperore still stayed on?
It stands to day as the most horrific act any nation has done to another nation considering the pre-bombing surrender.
That is the reality of it as reported by troops right before they were ordered to get out which reminds me of a situation i was in seven years ago.

Item one: It was horrific.God, all of the liberals here calling this horrific and what not disgust me.
It was a war. They attacked the US first. The bombing saved over a million Japanese lives and over 300,000 american troops.
No apologies, ever.
