catrats - Thanks for that handy tip

I am definitely not interested in this TOUCH SCREEN only remote, I definitely want the 15-2116 for $29.99.

NICKel - THANK YOU for mentioning the 2116

I use my remote 95% of the time in the dark from my bed, so having physical buttons is a must for me ...

So I'm 99% sold on the 2116 so far.

I'll ship you one if you can pay via NON-CREDIT CARD PAYPAL, $40 shipped USPS and I'll pay with CASH and include the original sales receipt (in case you wanted a refund or needed it for warranty).

Let me know.

hehe...thanks for the offer, but I really don't need a new remote. I've got a JVC receiver with universal remote w/ IR and RF transmitter. So far it controls everything fine. The main drawback is that it is not a learning remote. I'm stuck with the imbedded codes. Things I'd like to have: ability to change discs in my DVD changer, and ability to bring up menu on TV and VCR for programming...other than that, I guess I'm fairly content. I just wanted one of these for the geek-factor...

Much appreciated...

I recently picked up the 15-2117 after discovering the jp1 yahoo group. The 2117 is the same remote as the 2116 only it also has RF capabilitiy in addition to IR (so it works through walls, across the house, etc). After I got it I found it had no code for my JVC receiver (had codes for jvc cd player, dvd, etc,. but not receiver), but wasn't a priblem. With about an hours worth of reading through the tutorials on how to add a custom code it was controlling my receiver w/o a hitch. Making the jp1 cable was relatively straight forward once I got all the parts together (ordered from mouser) and worked the first time (which was a feat for me...I am pretty horrible with a soldering iron). My a/v equipment is pretty basic right now, and the 2116/2117 is probably overkill at this point, but I consider it the first step in my grand plans for a future basement home theater.

I put one on hold at my local RS. Gonna try it out for 30 days and see if I like it. Too bad my cable is getting shut off on 4/14...damn those auditors!

I saw this thread and tore ass to the local radio shack and sure enough, it was 29.99. They also have the 6in1 which looks nicer for 59.99 but to hell with that, it's only 6in1! As soon as I heard I could use my tivo with it, I wasn't going to let it slip by. Bonedoc, good job on a great deal! I can finally put these 7 remotes away!

Chalk up another vote for the 2116

I've used lots of other remotes - Takecontrol, Sony RM-AV2100, and God knows how many other generic universals, and I really REALLY dig the 15-2116. The feel is just incredible.. it fits really well in my hand, the built in codes are ample but the learning feature works great, and the JP1 is a good bonus even though I haven't gotten a chance to play with it yet.

IMO, LCD remotes are nice for the geek factor but when it comes down to it, there's something about PHYSICAL BUTTONS that just satisfies an inner need. Once you memorize your button layout you can navigate by feel; no depending on the backlight or looking down at the keys.

Well I got this, it was the last one (display model). But I might get the 2116 instead, I would rather have physical buttons. One thing that I am finding (or I should probably say not finding) is a working code for a Samsung direcTV receiever. If anyone has one please PM me, thank you very much.

Ok so let me get this straight, the only difference between the 2116 and 2117 is the 2117 is $20 more but can operate through walls? Functionality/feature wise they are exactly the same? The 2117 for $49.99 scores high on the geek factor but I'm a cheap ass, it's a bit to much for my anemic wallet.

amnesiac 2.0 - That's what I'm talkin' about! I want physical buttons and it sounds like this remote feels good in the hand (not that like you perverts ), with enough practice I can channel surf without looking at the remote in the dark.

So far I am sold on the 2116, now I just gotta slip away from work and buy one.

SCORED *3* in Toms River, NJ!!!

I left the display model there, seemed to be 100% ok, even was powered on, they just don't have the manual or the box for it and she said she would double the 90 day warrantee to 180 day (whoooptee, which is why i didnt take it).

I only initially plan on using *1* of these.

THUS I HAVE *TWO EXTRAS IN THE BOX*
CONTACT ME VIA *AIM OR EMAIL* ONLY if you are interested in one!!

Any remote with a built in JP1 interface will let you customize to your hearts content. I've got a radio shack 15-1994 and with the help of the jp1 group (groups.yahoo.com/jp1) I can use my computer to program this remote. For more info check out link to JP1 info

I bought the 2104 a couple of weeks ago for $19.99. These Rat shack controls are very cool using the jp1 feature. The cable is easy to make I built it using spare parts I had laying around. There is mounds of info in the yahoo jp1 group posted earlier. I bought a Tevion home theater setup at aldi a couple of months ago but there was no code that would work. I was able to program the controller using the interface. There is other cool things that you can do like make macros. Very cool

Nice price I am going to go check local RS for one of these too.

Rossman, There is some replay tv available in the yahoo group. I am not sure if it is written for this model. You may have to make some changes if there isn't.

$29.99 is a bargain!
I agree and you wouldn't need a 2117 to shoot through walls unless you wanted music control from different rooms with speakers in all of them but then you'd always be looking room to room for your remote when you need it.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if a remote has RF, wouldn't your receiver (tv, dvd, music, whatever) need RF? Don't see many of those.

Picked up two of the LCD ones. Pretty darn nice. Although I do think putting DVD/VCR as a combo button is stupid. You ought to have one NAMED DVD and another named VCR. As it is, you have to use an AUX now because face it, most people who buy this will have both.

Edit: Ok, didn't look at the RF one...comes with a single receiver.

Thanks for the hot deal, fellas.

Picked up 2 at my local Shack (Melbourne, FL). As others have
mentioned, the counter guy was pretty surprised that they rang
up as $29.95, especially since the sticker price was $149.95!!!

FWIW, this does have the channel up/down and a couple other
"hard" buttons, so for the basics you won't have to look at the
remote...

This thing rocks.
1 hour learning curve.

Even if it doesn't have your codes, as long as you have your original remote, it learns fine.

I have a macro now to turn on my plasma, turn on the cable tuner, then the vcr and then tune to a channel.
And the same with going off.

Definitely worth $30.

I got 2 extras if anyone wants, going to ebay tommorow night.

That may not sound like a lot, but I was able to combine my receiver's RF capabilities with one of these.

It's a little hard to explain, but basically thanks to RF I am now able to watch and control my ReplayTV in a second room, at a cost of about $25. This would work with a Dish too. Only downside for me is occasional interference on the video transmitters, but they do have 4 channels and I can usually get a clear picture on one of them.
