The link on the first page that points to the review on remotecentral.com
has a post by a guy named "Rah" and he stated that he got it to replace
his XBox remote. His email is listed in the review. You could try emailing
him or looking on that site for more info.

Yes, Xbox works I found the code 0522 under dvd.
Of course like any remote it can't power the xbox on or off. It's not the remote it's the way xbox was made. But it works for everything else.

What I want to know is if with the jp1 cable I can change the remote where it has dvd/vcr under one button? I would like to put them under 2 different buttons. It's easier for people who aren't familiar with the remote. Or are the words actually etched into the remote?

Thanks for any help.

ok, i'm learning the jp1 stuff, but does this thing give off rf signals? if not, then how are you suppose to control x10 unless you get a ir responder?

heh heh... I won last night. I made it as complicated as possible (dvd is video 6 on the tv, and dvd on the receiver, but you have to set dvd to optical 1, and video 1 on the receiver is video 2 on the tv, and.... ). She couldn't keep track, I got the new remote Unfortunately, by the time I got home, my kids, not afraid to experiment with pushing buttons, had changed so many settings while trying to get sound for a movie... ughhhh!

I think the answer depends a lot on the complexity of commands/macros. However, the guesstimate seems to be about 25 keys if you're using the learning function of the remote
3) Is there anyway to upgrade, flash or hack the memory, so you can have more?
Not possible from what I've read.

As described by user reviews of the 15-2116 remote, you're much better off using the JP1 interface on it to program the keys. Apparently, storage is more efficient when using the JP1 interface as opposed to using the learning function of the remote.

Good luck.

Just got one. I already have the RS 15-1994 and the JP1 interface so I can't wait til I get home to play around with it. As I held the 2107 it doesn't since big, maybe I have big hands. I like the look of it and for $29.99 for a touchscreen remote you can't go wrong.

ive got the 1994 and got rid of 5 remotes in the process. the yahoo group is great apps are there and some predefined codes like the one i use for tivo.

as for the x10 controlling, you can buy a low end IR receiver for like $30 which plugs into the wall and receives ir commands from your remote. a more expensive one around 75 will accept multiple channels (A-), cheaper one only sends commands to 1 channel

WOW!! Great deal...thanx for the heads up on this one. Got one last nite in the Houston area. Works great and saves using 5 remotes to get all the a/v stuff goin'. Only prob now is finding a code set for my Samsung DVD/VCR combo. the remote 2107 controls the VCR part but can't get the right code to manipulate the DVD...anyone else have this prob OR can point me in the right direction....thanx again...

Oh the agony, now I am considering the 2117 ... if I can get it to work in conjunction with X10/lighting modules, that would be awesome.

Turn the bedroom lights on and off with the TV remote, TV, DVD, VCR, ReplayTV and everything else.

did you try the instructions for searching for a receiver's code? i had this same problem with my onkyo and still can't get it to work (even after searching for the code)...

As stated, I returned one of the 3 i bought to the Radioshack in OLD BRIDGE, NJ on ROUTE 9.

I don't know if the guy was retarded, but at first he was confused cuz it rang up as $99.99 or whatever, but I think he's just retarded, so it should be $29.99 if you try to buy it. If it's not, tell him you know the guy who just returned it and you know he just returned it for $29.99, so give you the damn price and learn to speak english!

So what's everyone's consensus? Looks like a lot of people are buying this but everyone has mixed review on the unit itself. I bought one last week and agree that lcd is not the best interface but it's cool to look at.

To me it looks a lot like the RCA touchscreen remote. Many of the RS remotes are just rebadged RCA remotes. If it is the same, then the reviews on it are really bad. Once difference is the RS one is 8-1 and the RCA one is 9-1.

As far as mapping indivdual keys thru JP1 software I have to say I prefer the 2116 model it seems more flexible....

Using the JP1 to program the remote uses less memory than the learning a remote key by key. Using the JP1 is the way to hack the memory so you have more.

Ionizer's FINAL REVIEW of the LCD that this thread is originally about (15-2107 i believe?) (not all the other ones people keep talking about):

Excellent buy at $30.
Why:
My cable box code worked excellent.
My Sony VCR code worked grea too.
My JVC DVD player works good, as far as I can tell.
MY Apex DVD player had only one code, but I have not tested it yet, since the original remote does not even have a "power" button, cuz u need to manually do that.
I learned the power button and other buttons from my NEC plasma remote.
I learned the cd-amfm-tape deck buttons from my sh1tty RCA mini-system.
I even made it learn the keys from my packerd bell IR remote for the PC...and I assume I could do the same for my hauppauge win-tv remote.

The remote is a little big, but I have a decent sized hand.

I programmed a macro to turn on my cable, plasma, vcr and go to a channel so I don't have the lame cablevision preview thing when I start up.
I programmed a macro to turn off all the above also (my plasma has two diff ones for power on or off)
I locked down my volume to the cable box, so it's always controlled.

Provided the batteries don't die in a month, this is a great deal and I recommend it if you have a little patience or eagerness to do a little upfront work for a lot of rewards.

Also, I assume that the memory remains in tact even when you remove the batteries (or replace them one by one) b/c re-coding everything would surely SUCK.

Again, if you can find it, and need one, get it, it's worth it. If you want to fool around with the JP1 b/c u want to learn every goddamn command on a remote that doesn't have a code, then go for it, but the JP1 isn't really necessary, imo.

The blue indiglo light is very bright, and automatically comes on if it detects the room is too dark. I almost wish it would go on all the time though (anyone know how it detects it, maybe I could throw a little thing over the sensor if it's somewhere I don't see?).

(PS: No i dont have any more, call your local radioshack and ask them to search other areas around you)

Thanks the OP for this great deal!

Just got my 2107 and it is AWESOME!!

I got all my components programmed and it works GREAT with everything! Even my ReplayTV which I was very skeptical about.

the only one left in the store was the display model, so I got the guy to double the warranty on it and throw in free batteries. You couldn't even tell it was a display model unless you were told.

I love this thing.

If I can also get it to work with my Xbox DVD player THEN I will be in heaven.

Is there any way to program this touchscreen remote to work with APEX televisions other than with the learning function?
