I carry a Glock 19


My one buddy carries the gambler and Glock 19 and Glock 37
My other buddy now carries the new Springer XDM but still carries a Glock 19 for everyday protection.

My buddy in AZ open carries an AR-15 when he feels like it.

So what you are saying is you really dont care why, you've convinced yourself its a danger to do so so rather than just come out and say how fucking piss your pants scared you are of people with scary guns you did it under the disguise of a question?

Geez...calm down dude. I was really just asking the question as to why people feel the need to carry a gun. For me it would probably just be more of a hassle than anything else as I've never been robbed or felt threatened to the point of needing a gun. I would bet 99% of people who carry a gun have never had to pull it out and probably 50% of those have not had to fire it.

I don't mind law abiding citizens with valid permits who carry guns. In fact I encourage it for those who are responsible and have a cool calm demeanor b/c they are the type of people who would probably help a stranger who was being robbed or beaten.

ruger p89 i bought it when they first came out.I tried other guns but the 89 is like an old friend

same thing i carry. awesome firearm, very reliable. i carry mine either behind my back in a generic horizontal holster, or in a shoulder rig. im lumpy anyway being overweight, so a gun bulge goes largely unnoticed. when i have my leather jacket (come on, cold weather!) i have a built in gun pocket that sets it perfectly for a left-hand draw.

because the world is a harsh place sometimes. i work alone, in a lot of very remote areas, with pretty expensive equipment. ive been almost jacked at gunpoint a couple times, the firearm showing before they got too close was an immediate deterrent, and the second time i actually had to draw on the two closest to me. ive done cash collections as well as security, so i have been licensed and bonded for govt armed security.

my work doesnt have an actual position on carrying firearms during work hours, but they havent said anything so far, despite having all the details of my incidents.

Glock 36 (.45ACP) or Ruger LCP (.380ACP). I'm not a huge guy so the LCP is very comfortable/easy to carry. I do prefer bigger bullets, though.

Sometimes the anti-gun positions some people take can get old.

The fact is guns are used a lot more than most know. I dont know of any 100% accurate study but the last study, admittedly quite old, was in the range of nearly 2 million "DGU's" (Defensive Gun Use) instances in a year.

Think about that. 2 million time a gun was sued to defend life or property. Now admittedly some of the lower end stats show it to be around a few hundred thousand a year but thats still pretty significant when you think about it.

How someone could in any way argue against CCW in light of numbers like this is beyond me. Never mind the "worst case" situations such as the incident a few years ago in Kansas City where an armed criminal put a few attorneys face down to execute them. Fortunately one of then had his weapon on him and a hell of a shoot out followed.

I wouldnt say everyone should carry, but I think its silly to assume its unsafe for someone to carry or that doing so poses a risk to the individual who is carrying.
