I just turned 18 and have only smoked a couple cigars. One of them was one my dad got from a bourbon company, and it didn't seem too good. What are some good cheaper ones?

I really like the smell of cigarettes and cigars even more. I prefer sitting next to someone smoking a cigar rather than smoking one myself. But smelling a smoke-stained person is pretty nasty.

Swisher Sweets, the preferred cigars of The Wu Tang Clan.

Just FYI, never buy a cigar you can purchase at a gas station.

Most of the cigars listed here, especially in the first few posts will run between $3.50 and $7.00 individually at any upstanding cigar shop... If you're really interested... print out this thread and see what you can afford. Just stay away from partagas until you've smoked at least 15 or 20 cigars or you'll kill yourself over them.

If that applies to Cohibas, please let me know where I can buy them for $7 each.

I've had the Fire and it was pretty good, I thought it was a bit uninteresting overall though.

I've actually not gotten around to tryingh the Drew Estates stuff, I can't seperate them from the Acid line which I'm a bit scared of.

Have you tried the Indian Tabac Super Fuertes? They're nice too.

I like the Indian Tabac also. I've tried so many recently that I can't remember which ones I liked and didn't. I've never tried the Acid but I will soon. Rocky Patel 1990's are nice too.

Edit...I had a Bahia red last night that was really nice.

I like Arturo Fuentes and Romeo & Julietas the best. Fuentes are good and they're also on the cheap side.

Wow, are you stealing out of my cooler? TIme to lock the back door!
I had a Bahia red about two weeks ago, and I agree it was good, somebody sent it to me ages ago on a trade, never seen it anywhere else...

now, being someone who doesn't smoke regular tobacky, how do y'all normally smoke your cigars? Do y'all inhale, or just let it hang in your mouth and never actually let it get in your lungs.

I'm a big fan of Cuesta Reys. Also like artuo fuente short stories.

I found a brand at a good shop in gainesville called Sancho Panza that had Double Maduros in a variety of sizes. These babies just cost ~$2.80 and tasted pretty good and were excelently rolled, great ash, smooth all the way through. I only smoke 8 or 9 cigars a year, so I never stocked up. I would recommend hard core smokers to try it out if they want a budget cigar.

Marlboro lights.

Cigars are ok. Cigs are pretty bomb though, especially when you're drunk or high.

Thankfully I limit myself to like 3-4 cigs a day, too much of it is a baddddd thing.

I smoke about 3-6 cigars per year. I usually smoke an Arturo Fuentes Hemingway or short story.

A friend brought me a nice cuban from a cruise he was on. Nice smoke. Partagas is another fav.

I try to save them for special occaisions.

Partagas, Avo #2, R&J are great. A great cheap smoke is La Vieja Havana from Drew Estates. They use mix filler tobacco (instead of just long filler like more expensive cigars), but you could never tell the difference. There run about $25 for a box of 20. Keep them in the humidor for a few months to mellow out and they smoke better than $5 smokes. I also stock up on Punch London Club Maduros (5x40). Great flavorful smoke that's quick to smoke, and dirt cheap too. Box of 25 runs about $30. And I personally think that cuban cigars are overrated. The first cigars I smoked were Cubans (mostly Cohiba and Punch). I found them ok, but nothing special.

I have 2 humidors and a coolerador. My main humidor holds about 50 cigars, but I only keep about 20 cigars in it (that I'm getting ready to smoke). I have a small 20 cigar humidor for the flavored smokes. The cooler has about 120 cigars in it right now.

I buy exclusively online (from either Famous-smoke.com or cigarsinternational.com). The cooler is great to have, since I can buy a few boxes at a time to save on shipping. If you live in California, buying locally is crazy (tobacco tax is 35% or something).

There are some great shops around here, like The Cigar Warehouse in Sherman Oaks, but the tobacco tax is killer. I haven't bought a cigar in a local shop for at least a year and a half or so.

Usually smoke on my patio with my laptop. Right now, I'm trying to catch up on 24. Just started season 4. Each episode is about 40 minutes without commercials, so it's the perfect time to smoke.

Inhaling a cigar is a quick way to get nauseous. Sometimes you end up inhaling a little bit (even unconsciously), but anything stronger than a mild cigar and you're asking for trouble. Take long, slow drags from the cigar and let the smoke pass over your tongue and kind of roll around your mouth for a few seconds, then blow it out. And try not to puff too much on it. The cigar and it's smoke should be as cool as possible. If you puff too much, the cigar will get too hot and it makes the smoke more bitter and harsh. 30-45 seconds or so between puffs should be fine.

I have a small humidor but mostly just buy them and smoke them within a day or two. I just hit up the local cigar shops around my town but love when I get the chance to go to Kansas City for my job. There is a great cigar shop out there called the Outlaw Cigar Company. I think they might have a website or at least do mail order stuff.

I do most of my smoking on the golf course or on my deck/patio at home. I also meet up with my dad at a bar and smoke over a beer or two.

On to the fun part.... my favorite cigars: (in no particular order)

Drew Estates - Acid - Kuba Kuba: great taste/aroma, around $5-6/each
Rocky Patel - Edge, 1990, 1992: fantastic cigar, can't remember the price tho
Quorum: pretty good taste for the price, about $1/each for churchills

and the best I have ever smoked:
Guantanamera: a cuban cigar, stellar taste/aroma. blew away the cuban cohiba's,h.upmann's that I tried. around $10/each I think. much cheaper than the cuban cohiba's.

Ahhh, now I might have to go enjoy a cigar tonight now that I am thinking about it.

La Gloria Cubana Series R
Partagas Series D #4
Hoyo de Monterrey Piramides Edicion Limitada
H. Upman Vintage Cameroon

Those are some of my favs, but like most cigars from those co.'s also Arturo Fuentes. Prefer Maduro's and the stronger the better

Haven't gotten around to ordering online, need a better humidor which I'm holding off till I have a new house to put it in. Been buying mine either from some local Boston stores, J.P. Erlich's and Victory mostly. Or been bringing back Cubans when I'm on vaca, brought back a box of Partagas last time I was in Aruba.

I smoke on the tiny deck off our apartment, though can only do that when the weather's nice. Otherwise it's at the Victory Cigar Bar

I tried to get out today, but there were thunderstorms

I did recently pick up some gel humidifier, to replace my aged florist foam, propylene-glycol, distilled water set up.
Hopefully it will require even less maintenance... though my previous set up was pretty hands off too. It was just getting old and required more observation... and I'm REALLY lazy
