Whats "drastically overblown" isn't the infections or anything - it's this mass hysteria panic where people are thinking things as stupid as stocking up on TP are viable and competent actions that a human can perform during these times. That couldn't be further from the truth.

Don't go to massively populated areas
Try to remain distant from people if you MUST go in public
Wash your hands thoroughly If you MUST go in public
Try to learn to do things like not rubbing your eyes, sticking fingers in your mouth, etc.

Instead we have bumbling morons lining up at crowded grocery stores - overbuying products for no reason... and...essentially... doing the EXACT opposite of what CDC is telling us to do.

Michael Olsterholm, who was just on Joe Rogan said it best. We need to think of this as a COVID-19 winter, and not a COVID-19 blizzard. Those 3 bags of toilet paper ain't going to do squat if this last longer than 1 month. Trump even announced that this will be with us until at least August. What Michael also made sense but people lack common sense. Be healthy. Filling your pie hole with junk food while hunkered down until this passes isn't the answer. If you're overweight go exercize ASAP. Cut out most sugars and bad carbs. Keeping inflamation down will help. Sleep 7-9 hours a day. Meditate. Practice Yoga. If all that you're doing is watching Netflix, gaming and eating crap foods you're putting yourself at risk IMO. Yes, it's not going to stop COVID-19, but being healthy will go a long way to recovery. You want your body in good shape. I feel sorry for the over 40 year olds who eat nothing but junk food, and don't exercize. That's like 90% of Americans They are putting themselves at risk and they don't even know it.

So far so good for me.... but I hate the fact that I have to keep coming to work. I wish they would stop dragging their feet and set us up to work from home. They only keep talking about the possibility. Nevermind possibility just make it happen. There was a cute little email from corporate about how they care but still need to keep business continuity and basically substance less BS. Mentioned how they care about their employees safety but no mention of having people work from home. We're a telecommunication company FFS, if there's a company that can figure that out it should be us.

Reading about how fast it spread in Italy it makes me wish I could just stay home and actually participate in the social distancing that's being recommended. The risk is still low where I live, but I'm sure that's what everyone in Italy thought about their own area too.

I feel sorry for my jiu jitsu instructors. This prolonged quarantine is going to ruin their business. They are awesome teachers and i hate this happening to them.

There were no reported cases within about 150mi. of us. I knew it was too good to be true and it was probably because of a lack of testing. Sure enough, yesterday it was announced that 8 people (8 whole people!) had been tested in the county and 4 were positive. One of those tested positive after death.

One interesting thing is that all 4 are/were younger than 60. No adults are safe.

There was a confirmed case in my city as of last night. Typical situation, someone traveling. This has been impeding for a few months now, stop traveling people. At least now they're not really letting people travel anymore.

Maybe eventually they will have an antibody test, so can see who has had it - and who might be immune to it. Then as an immune person, you'll be drafted in to do all the front-line nursing!

We were talking about that at work, I started getting a sore throat which got bad near end of my shift, called in sick next 3 days as it turned into a fever, shortness of breath, dry coughing, pretty much most of the covid-19 symptoms except no pneumonia.

I'm still not 100%, I feel ok, but when I do any physical work I do feel weaker. I get the occasional scratchy throat and dry cough too.

Only reason I think it's NOT that is because I was not in contact with anyone that traveled... that I know of.

Either way being super diligent as I don't want to give what I had if I'm still contagious, and my immune system is probably lower now too.

I really hope my workplace sets us up to work from home.

I think I hoped back them to become a Bond Villain, with an underground or undersea lair, guarded by an army of minions (or, better yet, robots - more reliable). But I have to face that I'm more likely - if I'm lucky - to end up as crazy-old-man-in-a-shack-in-the-woods.

We got groceries today. I Washed all the packaging with bleach when I got home and cleaned my hands thoroughly. The Quebec Premier is briefing the population every day as they ramp up the response. He is doing a very good job compared to what I see from Trudeau who could not even protect his own wife from getting the virus.

The president of the college that I attend has sent out an e-mail a few days ago that a student in another campus that the college owns, was found positive for the virus.

I got home yesterday from Hawaii. I've had a cough for 3 weeks, but no other symptoms. Everyone in my office has had colds the past few months.


Anyway, my concern is that I went through a bunch of airports and on planes....now I wonder if I was exposed to it. Planes weren't exactly crowded out of Dulles, but the long flight was 70+% full.



Gonna wait out 7-14 days I guess and try to stay rested.
