Please support a good cause.

My friend, Danny, is an Iraq War veteran with the Army. He is a very humble and down-to-earth guy. His political views are right on some things and left on others, just like the vast majority of us. He is an extremely caring and understanding person whose mission in life is to help as many people as possible and to help people achieve the American dream. The man works tirelessly at it.

Seven years ago, he started a small fitness company called Soldierfit. It has grown and is now franchising. Through the success of this company, he decided to help use his company's growing popularity to help raise awareness about an issue very near and dear to his heart.

Last year, he created an organization called 22 Needs a Face to help veterans with PTSD. Every day, an average of 22 veterans take their own lives because they're not able to handle their PTSD. The organization has a three-part plan to help veterans with PTSD : create an environment where veterans with PTSD can feel safe to discuss their struggles and feel part of a community with others going through the same thing, get more people aware of PTSD and remove the stigma behind it so those who have it can feel more comfortable receiving proper treatment, and to help lobbying efforts to help increase VA funding and PTSD treatment programs and career opportunities.

This is an issue very important to him because, when he came back from Iraq, he suffered from PTSD, was homeless, dealt with molestation, and attempted to commit suicide. He received help and treatment and is doing great things now for the community. Last year, he got married and, this year, he's expecting his first child (a daughter).

If you have a family member or friend who is or was in the military or even if you care about people, in general, and would rather our government take care of the soldiers it so willingly sent overseas for war whenever they come back home, please share this link to the poll on Facebook, Twitter, and anywhere else you can.

You can vote daily. It doesn't take long at all. No sign-up required, just a Facebook to Twitter account, I believe.

Please and thank you.

While your friend's cause is deserving, it is no more so than many, many others. If the other members post and keep the thread alive, that is fine, but it is up to them. When the forum director says not to bump the thread, your options include making a thread in Moderator Discussions to appeal. They do NOT include immediately bumping it and then announcing your defiance.

Either to make it easier to share on social media or to help Facebook know what kinds of things you're interested in so they could run better ads on your news feed, or both. Either way, it's such a minor non-annoyance for me.

IIRC they got my name, profile picture, friends list, age, public posts and email from my facebook page, and don't have permission to post. Why should I care about them knowing that? I'm all for privacy, but there's no harm in people knowing those things. What are they going to do, send me emails?

I don't even click vote for those cutest baby contests when I personally know the parent. Especially when I think the baby is not nearly the cutest one. Yeah, it's like that.

Good for you big boy! Bragging about not helping people makes you look like quite a guy, and not at all like a jackass!

No twitter or facebook.

It's nice that he is doing this, but at the same time.......how in the world is our government neglecting our "Heroes". Their actions don't reflect their words.....quite the opposite, so many Vets have been left in the cold when they get back and neglected.

This has been going on for DECADES.....yet people still join military......

New day of voting. Voting can be done daily.

I'm kinda bummed that there isn't nearly as strong a response as I'd imagined...

You overestimate the number of people here that use FB or Twitter on this forum.

And people that do use those 2, are probably not the people you want to be associated with to begin with.

It's not that there is necessarily direct harm in people knowing those things, but I also don't see the need to share any unnecessary information with companies or organizations. They don't need to know any more about me then what is needed to conduct whatever transactions I authorize.

i don't understand your post...

you asked a question and then answered it.

you asked how the government is neglecting our heroes, then went on to talk about how the government has neglected them.

for those of you who don't have facebook or twitter, would it hurt you any to create a fake account?

here's why i ask. thousands of people, each year, sign up to put their lives on the line to protect us and our freedoms at a moment's notice should shit hit the fan. many have gone into the middle east and have come back with their bodies, minds, and lives ruined. they need help.

is creating an account to increase some votes to help danny win, so he can make a much bigger impact and raise more money for veterans, that big of an inconvenience?

if so, that's fine - it's your right. i'm just asking if you've ever put things in a different perspective and arrived at the same conclusion.
