Anybody ever shoot Fiocchi? Just wondering if it's junk or not.

They had some Fiocchi .223 at Gander Mt, $20 for 50 rounds. I'm planning on going shooting this weekend and thought I might try a different brand. It was pretty inexpensive so I thought I'd give it a shot. Opened them up and they look like reloads, prolly why they're so cheap.

Round on the left is Fiocchi, AE Tac on the right for comparison

I've been buying the American Eagle tactical .223 because it's been cheap. Gander had it on sale for $30 for 100 rounds a while ago. For blowing holes in paper targets cheap is good enough.

Anyhow, I've got about 450 rounds for plinking so I'm all stocked up

I've shot Fiocchi 55gr .223 ammo through my AR with no problems. I assume you're referring to the discoloration on the brass case that makes the ammo look reloaded? That's a normal effect of the annealing process:

http://www.carolinamarksman.com/annealing-cartridge-cases.html

I have Federal .223 from Lake City that has the same discoloration and has also shot without any issues.

Edit: I just read my own link more carefully and it apparently discusses annealing in the context of reloading, which I have little knowledge of. That being said, I do not think the Fiocchi I shot with the discolored neck area is reloaded ammo; neither was the Federal LC ammo.

Fiocchi anneals the neck.

Yep. Annealing is usually done with all new bottle necked brass rounds, just most manufacturers polish it off for cosmetics. Nothing to worry about.

I have shot Fiocchi ammo before, seemed to work just fine for me.

Ahh, ok makes sense. Yeah I thought the discoloration was from the casing having been fired before. I'll give em a go.

I put a box of Fiocchi .40SW through a range gun a couple weeks back - no issues. Every round fed, fired, extracted and ejected exactly as it was supposed to.

Meh, I wouldn't worry about it much. I think some people make too big a deal on how accurate and reliable ammo is supposed to be over others. Of course your carry ammo is different. Some people say the Federal 550 pack .22 LR is garbage, but runs great on my Marlin 795. Perhaps something like CCI Minimags would jam less and not stovepipe, but with over 99% reliability with Federal, I can't see running anything different especially how much more the CCI is.

Federal bulk pack 22LR is my go-to .22 ammo, runs flawless in everything from my 10/22's, to my buckmark, to my AR conversion kit and dedicated upper.

Now remington golden bullet .22LR sucks, always having issues with that ammo.

Of all the ammo brands I've found in stores, Ultramax was the worst. It's "factory" reloads, but they use some dirty ass powder. Shooting the 9mm stuff was like shooting an old smoke wagon.

Fiocchi's fine, blast away. That AE tactical is great ammo. That's what I pretty much shoot exclusively as it's the ballistic equivalent of my duty ammo. I wish I could fine it available locally at $30/100. I've been getting it online at $6 a box but shipping sucks.

Fiocchi 223 is pretty damn good stuff. Chrono's better than AE 223 or PMC. Or that's what I remember at least.

I just bought 500 rounds at $5.99 a box. About 5 miles from my house.
Before that, I bought 500 rounds of Federal XM193 for the same price.

I think it depends on what you are shooting it in. AR type weapons seem to work better than bolt action with "dirty" ammo.

Never shot the Fiocchi but my nephew and I went through 50 rounds of AE Tactical .223 today with no problems. At $40 for 100 rounds it was the cheapest (next was Wolf at $9 for 20 rounds, runs fine though).
