ATOT I need some advice. My neighbor owns a heating and air conditioning business and he has 3 work vehicles (1 van / 2 trucks) which he parks on street in front of my house. I live on a one way street with limited street parking and each house has a driveway with space for 2 cars. My Neighbor will park 1 work truck in is driveway and his personal SUV, then he'll park his 2 work trucks and a second personal SUV in front of my house leaving me with NO street parking. In my house I have 3 people with 3 cars and I just need 1 spot. Usually I have to race home at the end of the day to make sure I get back before this neighbor just so I can park, if I don't make it back in time I have to park in front of my own driveway and block the entrance. The worst part is that he doesn't even drive his personal SUVs, he leaves one parked in front of my for weeks at a time. I've stated calling the cops but he just moves it once it get tagged by the cops.

The crazy part is that I just started parking in front of this guys house when his truck isn't there and he got personally offended, I came home and parked behind the 2 trucks in front of my house the guy came outside to stare me down and mouth FU.

Well, that's the situation. Has anyone here dealt with something similar, any advice (no vandalism). I was hoping my city's municipal code would have something against parking a commercial vehicles in residential zone but all I found was this rule restricting commercial vehicles over 5 tons.

Cliffs:
Neighbor has 5 trucks work/personal.
Constantly parks 2 work trucks and 1 suv in front of my house
I have no street parking.

is the street parking specifically assigned to you/your house? if not, i doubt there is much you can do unless your city has some kind of law about commercial vehicles parked in residential zones

Try talking to him?

what is talking to him going to achieve? If there's limited parking, it's not like the guy can move his truck somewhere else, and it's also unlikely he's going to get rid of one of his trucks just to OP can have a parking spot. And it's likely that the neighbor already knows he's taking up more than his fair share of street parking, but doesn't care because legally, OP cant do anything about it since all street parking is public (maybe, unless, like I said before, OP's city has some kind of law about that).

Not much you can do legally. The street is a public roadway...and anyone can park there.

(sometimes it sucks when neighbors have too many vehicles for "their own space"...but that's life)

Keep parking in front of his house.

Well you have a shitty city.

"Resident Parking Only" signs need to be enacted.

A guy down the street owns a limo company, sucks when he's got that massive bus/van limo on the street

It's called compromise, cooperation, reciprocity. Perhaps the neighbor would be willing to talk about it rather than being another isolationist asshole who reaches for a lawyer instead of wandering over with a 6 pack.

I wanted to speak to him but like I said the guy will give me death stares like killed his mother in front of him. I was hoping I could find some City code or something before I confront him.

Raise your power level to over 9,000. His scouter should detect he is no match for you and will capitulate.

Pick up the phone and call the city.

Before you start work on your amateur law degree, try being polite and just asking that he not park both his extra vehicles in front of your home so you can have a spot. I assume you don't really care if he parks one there as long as there is space for yours as well.

If he continues to be a jerk, just continue to park in front of his house, and if he gives you the "death stare", point to his vehicles in front of your house. If you have no legal recourse, then neither does he.

Looks at user name...

Maybe he knows you're a punk and won't actually do anything about it...

Maybe you could try putting glue on his windshield.
(dredging up a past thread)

Try calling the city to see if there's any ordinance prohibiting the parking of commercial vehicles in a residential area. I doubt it, but they'll be the only ones who can give you an accurate answer.

I have, after putting up with this for the last year I've finally called the the cops last week about he SUV he leaves parked there for weeks at a time and I left a voice mail with a traffic cop about the work trucks. I've been playing phone tag with the office for the last 2 days, hopefully I'll get in contact with him today.

lol, No punk here. I created that username 9 years ago when I much younger and on a punk music kick.

I'm hoping to hear back from the city soon. I've been not letting this get to me for the last year but it's coming to a head now. I'm anxiously waiting a response from the city but I'm not holding out too much hope.

For those of you advocating talking with the neighbor, I'd suggest that based on his (the neighbor's) actions he's not interested in talking. Obviously he feels it's perfectly ok to park his work trucks and/or his personal SUV in front of the OP's house, but gets pissy when OP parks in front of his house.

Good luck OP.

Our city passed a commercial truck ordinance. Had to be even with the house or deeper into the lot or parked somewhere in the county. No grandfathering in.

Could be a code enforcement officer other than traffic cops.

luck.
