That is Tuesday for me. I don't recall being this upset or sad about a birthday ever.
Yeah, 30 was no big deal for me. It was for my wife though.
40 was tough for me...I dreaded turning 40.

Item 1: You simply have more money than you did in school. As the you have more money its value drops relative to the value of your time. Basically, if you buy something and it doesn't work out, you'll go buy something else. The process is more expensive in terms of money but cheaper in terms of time. It is the same reason people pay other people to do stuff for them that they are perfectly capable of doing themselves. Time is more valuable than money once you have enough money.

Bah. I celebrated my 40th this past July while climbing glaciers on a volcano. It just keeps getting better every year.
