The following pics are the progression of one of my muscle cars progression. Last two pics, the truck is dirty as it just rained/stormed. My other muscle car is a 67 GT Fastback w/ a 289 HP.

I remember there used to be a Nissan Club so I am going to start a muscle car club. The only rule is you actually have to own it and it can't be your parents or a buddies. I'll start first I own a 2004 Pontiac GTO.

Nice! I used to have a 74 with a 258 and a Chrysler 727 auto. It hauled balls for a straight-6
I also used to have a 68 Olds Cutlass S w/360hp from a worked-over 355. Sadly, the Olds is long gone, and all I drive now is an 88 Accord or an 02 Eclipse GT V6. Both are fun, the Eclipse is quick and the Accord is a handling wonder, but neither can match the stupifyingly awesome brute force of the roughly 400lb-ft of torque throwing forth 3800lbs of American Steel. I shed a tear for my Oldsmobile.
Am I the only one looking forward to the new Challenger? Here's hoping it gets built... I'd go into debt for it!

Actually, Camaros and Mustangs are usually classified as 'pony cars' (at least through the 70's anyway). Corvettes are 'sports' cars. But I don't really care. Most 'performance' type cars that were manufactured before '74 are fine by me.
As far as the debate about whether to call newer cars 'muscle cars' goes...I think it is a fare categorization for the likes of Mustangs, GTO's, Camaros, Vipers..etc. The Charger is pushing it (only because of the 4 doors) and the Vette is a bit too 'sporty'. The Viper is in only because it is so raw and unrefined (not sure about the newer ones but the older one's were downright raw).
Muscle cars were generally the 'cheaper' models that were easier for the younger crowd to buy, easy to upgrade to insane levels of performance (for the time), offered appearance upgrades, or were stripped down special order racers (Yenko, Baldwin, COPO...etc).
I can't remember why the Camaro and Mustang (among others) were called "Pony Cars"
Anyway.......
My '70 Chevelle at Chevellabration 2005 in Goodlettsville TN
My Freshly Restored 350
Engine Bay Shot
I'm in the midst of switching the rear brakes to Disc with SS lines and installing Lakewood 'lift bars' to help with the 'wheel hop' inherent to Chevelles.
A 'money pit' she is....but it is definitely worth it
