Wow. I haven't posted on these forums in ages. Saw this thread a while ago and decided to throw mine in the ring to see what the computer kids think -

1967 GTO

It's a '67 GTO hardtop, mild 400 with '66 Tri-Power, cam, headers, 4-speed, 3.55 posi, etc. It gets 10 mpg on the highway.

As well as 69 SS396 chevelle, 67 elky.

Thanks! Sounds like you have some nice rides.

I would change my signature but the forum software won't let me. Since my username is over 6 years old, they must have changed the rules, now it won't let me update my profile because my username has an apostrophe in it. So it says it's not a valid name, even though I can log on and post with no problems. Oh well...

GM A bodies rule the streets...
with a little work on the 4link rear, and raising the upper arm mount up front, hooks and handles decent. And parts are incredibly interchangeable from 64-74. Easy to work on, well designed and reliable, and fast...go back a page in this thread for some details on the last 2 rides..

Nice setup on the Elky and Chevelle. You Chebby guys have it easy for engine performance parts. In comparison the selection for Pontiac is small and the prices are high. I'm planning out an engine build for the 400 right now. The current build is a few years old and while it can smoke both back tires for about a block it seems like I want something even beefier. Nothing wrong with it the way it is, it sounds wicked and hauls ass, but you know how it is - more is always better!

One of the advantages Pontiac had over Chevy, was the heads. They were designed for lo-angle valve jobs. Worst thing you can do for a 389 poncho is a standard 45 degree face 3 angle vj. Head design really pumped up low end power w standard factory-spec lo angle valve cut, at least for most streetable moderate lift cams.
canadian pontiac 400 was smallblock chev, same w the 350. American poncho 350/400 looks like a bigblock chevy externally...and much heavier. And you are right, speed parts are ubiquitous for mouse and rat motors. I'd stuff a 502 in there disguised to look like stock 400!

Anyone here remember the old Thrush Aluminum finned SIDE PIPES?

I happen to have a NOS set of them I've been meaning to put up on Ebay, but seeing as how there are some old school motor heads on here, maybe I'll give you guys first shot at them.

P.M. me if you are interested!

I always went for something a little different. Got the '66 Impala wagon so I can take my kids cruisin' with me: 1966 Chevy Impala

Almost completely original except for paint and wheels.....

Does anyone else not consider Mustangs muscle cars? When I hear "muscle car" I think of the big old Chevelle's, Challengers, 442's, Torino's, Buicks, GTO's, and the early 90's Impala's and the Marauder and new GTO and Charger etc. Not Mustangs, Camaros, and Corvettes.

To me a muscle car is a big heavy beast with a monsterous engine with enough torque to drag a boat anchor down the street behind it.

Excellent! My 4000 pound v8 charger qualifies!

Not to say I wouldn't love to own any of those cars... I just don't see them as "muscle cars."

Mustang and Camaro's (as well as Firebirds, AMX, Javelin's, etc) are pony cars which is a subset of Muscle Cars. The Corvette is a true sports car, so no it is not a muscle car:

...and I have enough hp/tq to beat up FallenHero's 2-ton V8-powered brick
