Man I just got this game yesterday, and it's soooo sweet!

But it did need some work to get it working properly... and the game is still a little buggy....

Also one more thing, you gotta have a gamepad to truely enjoy this game.... playing with the keyboard and mouse simply sucks...

KB + Mouse is 100x better IMO...have you tried aiming with a gamepad? Blech. I had an old Gravis gamepad kickin around, tried it for about a half hour and was thoroughly annoyed!!! Doesn't matter though, the game owns...play it how you want

too bad you can't use the keyboard/mouse combo while walking around in first person perspective. great game though and the keyboard/mouse helps.

I used auto aiming, and it wasnt a problem for me with my MS Sidewinder Pro gamepad...

I found driving was a little difficult with the keyboard, gamepad was much better... however it's better with keyboard/mouse when you walk around...

This is the first time I have ever play GTA3, and this game is DEFINITELY not for kids!

Amazingly I've had little trouble with the game, even with my somewhat dated system. I'm running a Tbird 850, Geforce 2 Pro 64MB, 512mb SDRAM, and XP Home, although I haven't tried that patch yet. It was unplayable at first, until I tweaked the settings. I'm playing at 800X600 32bit, no trails, and the draw distance at the default, which is about halfway up the slider bar. The game hasn't crashed once on me, and I played for 3 hours straight the other day. Adjusting the sound properties helped too. Now I can play fine, and it looks as good as it does on the PS2. This is the first game that really brought my computer to it's knee's, I wish I could run 1024X768 but oh well.

How do I pick up the hookers in this game? All I can do is beat them or push them.

Uhh yes you can use it in 1st person while walking around thats what i do.

Just pull up next to them (must be at night and no cops around, cant be driving cop car, or taxi? i think) and just pull up next to one and wait and whe will bend down and talk to u etc... then after a while of talking she will get in

I had no luck with the hookers either They'd get in my car and I could drive around with them and whatnot, but my health would never improve. I tried going down an alley and parking, but that didn't work either. I didn't take cop presence, or night/day into consideration, so that's probably my problem. I'll give it a whirl when I get back home.

You have to take her into a dark alley. The save points usually works well.

You can pick them up in the daytime, and the best way is to park under a tree, as far away from the road as possible. It always happens when I do it...

Hrmm.. well my install runs 100% fine at 1152x864x32 with all effects turned on.

Before installing the game, I installed the Pre-SP1 Patch for the D3D in Windows XP.
I then installed the game, my system setup is below:

AMD XP 1600 - (1.4Ghz)
512 PC2100 Crucial DDR
Epox 8KHA+
VisionTek GF3 Ti200 @ Ti500 Speeds (27.23's)

Everything's running great!

Anyways, as for the hookers, yeah, just grab a car, pull up beside them and wait till they bend over and just wait, they'll get in your car. Next drive into an alley, or even underneath trees on the surrounding forested areas, just stop, and the car will begin to rock, and your health will go up, and your cash will go down.

However, you can't pick up hookers while you're on the mission, you have to be between missions to do it.

damn i must be missing something. how do you get into first person mode while on foot? all i can get is third person from behind and an overhead view while on foot. how do you get into first person?

There is a trainer but u can still die by expolsions

Q. When I load my game it goes to the Rockstar Games Cut Scene, then crashes and has the general program caused error message, Can this be fixed?
A. You Can try deleting the intro cutscenes or move them out of the folder, Again This is not 100% guaranteed, but it should work.

Hmm, what are these cutscenes called and which folder are they in? I can't seem to find them...

Um have you tried C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTAIII\movies

When I try to load a saved game it will show the gta3 picture and the little progress bar at the bottom and it will crash when it gets to the end of the bar. When I ctrl alt del out and go to task manager gta3 say it had an unhandled exception error. Anyone else have this problem?

You have a legal version of the game? I was told that some warez versions didnt let u load etc..

You should be able to run at 1024x768x32 with no problems...

My system is even more outdated than you, I have a AMD T-Bird 700Mhz, GF2 GTS 32mb, 512 SDRAM and Win2k SP2...

I am running the game at 1024x768x32 without problems... your system should handle it with no problems...

I heard you need a crack/patch to make loading work with copied versions...
