That WinXP patch really worked wonders for me. Before I installed the patch I could only run 800X600x32 with no trails/subtitles/draw distance halfway down. Post-patch I can run at 1024X768x32, I haven't tried turning up the draw distance, or turning on the trails yet. I figure I'm pushing my luck as it is with my trusty old Tbird 850/512mb SDRAM/Geforce2 Pro 64MB This is the first game that really burdens my system, up until now I thought getting an AMD XP1900 wouldn't yield that great of a performance gain, but now I'm having second thoughts.....


One good thing is that I haven't had a crash from GTA3 yet <knocking on wood>

Here's a question. I've figured out that stopping alongside a hooker in the Red Light District will have one come over and eventually get into your car. At that point she starts to cost me $1/second but I don't think I'm getting anything out of the deal! :Q Where do I take one in the game to get, uh...well, you know.

You have to take them to a secluded area, i useually go to some woods off of the road and then get my groove on.

I was wondering what you were talking about regarding lag, until I got to Staunton Island, then it started to lag. I only have a 900Tbird, 512/133mhz, and an older ge force (32MB?)

I changed the page file from system allocated, to 100mb low and 1500mb high (given you have the space to do this on your hard drive)
Made it run without any lag at all (running at 1024x788x16)

Try it out and let us know if it works for you too..

what are you having trouble with? (I used a cheat for one mission while on the island, type "giveusatank" and enter while in the game, hehehe. Type it again and hit enter to disable the cheat)

Thanks for the tip 911. Ill have to try it out asap but I might have to go out to a buddy's b-day party. I hate decisions like these.

I played GTA3 in the morning with the trainer and spent an hour decapitating people, shooting off arms and legs, shooting helicopters, etc. I couldve kept on going for hours but I was already a half-hour late for work at that point.


BTW, when you use the GTA3 trainer, DO NOT BLOW UP COP CARS. This will cause the game to freeze and generate errors, as it does for me. You can shoot cops but dont blow up the vehicles themselves.

Sorry, it does NOT work for me.

The problem with the game for me is when i go in the car, it starts to Lagg like theres no tommrow. Its Really jerky and renders the game unplayable.

512MB DDR Ram (Crucial)
Asus P4S333 (SiS645)
Geforce 2 MX200 64MB
Windows 2000 W/ SP2
Hercules Game Theater XP Sound Card

Stuff that I Tried To Fix My Lagg Problems..

-Tried Different Audio Driver Settings In The game.
-4X AGP & 256MB Texture Set in Bios.
-I replaced the old d3d8.dll with the new one from the XP patch.
-Running At 640x480 16Bit
-Most Recent Detonator Drivers From www.nvidia.com
-Most Recent Drivers For Game Theater XP

If anyone else have suggestions that i can try out, I will be more then willing to test it.

hookers like exotics and convertibiles. i use the infernus usually. just pull up beside a hooker (with her
on the passenger side), she'll come over, bend over a few times to talk to you through the window,
and then get in. take her to your hideout for quick boost to your health. it'll jump to 125.

when she's plying her skills, she rocks the infernus like a boat and you hear this creaking sound
like an old bed bouncing.

I was browsing over at GTAforums.com & found out this little work around.

With this work around, the game plays a little better, but way below my expectations with the game interms of graphics etc. It only worked at 640x480 16Bit. Once i bump anything up, my FPS suffers very badly.

You have to be in the Red Light District when you do it. Pull up very close beside one of the working girls in a car, they'll come and lean over to talk to you. Be patient, they'll stand up/lean back over a few times and eventually get in. Then it's $1/second until you can find a secluded place to park...pretty funny to watch at that point, just don't expect a "show".

What I do is I drive up next to them and stop (I end up stopping on the sidewalk)... but they never come over and talk to me! Can I do this on any street at any time? Someone tells me how to do it! I wanna see what happens...

You cant be in the middle of a mission, it has to be in between missions,

Also, you dont see them doing it, you just hear the sounds, whiel your health goes up.

Yeah I know, but I still wanna see what happens...

I am not on a mission, should I just pull up to the sidewalk and stop? The hookers keep walking and dont bend down to talk to me....
